When I lived in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, I used to volunteer at a local radio station. One week, I replaced the morning person and generally kept the on-air portion going smoothly while a staff member worked on news and sports reports. I'm not sure how the conversation got going, but off air, I remember talking to this person (a woman) about how ridiculous it was to wear clothes in such hot weather and how we'd feel better if we'd just let ourselves be nude.

Well..., at a certain point whereshe came on airto give the major headlines, she decided first to put me on the spot and ask my opinion about going about naked outdoors in public settings. I took a deep breath... and tried to tackle the issue as seriously as I could. I don't remember everything I said, but I do remember trying to give it as positive a spin as I could and concentrated mainly on the feelings of freedom and comfort that came with nudity, and how it was WAY preferable to wearing a bathing suit.

I remember at one point she wondered if general nudity in public might lead to an increased birth rate! Of course, she was alluding to the belief that without clothes, people would not control their sexual impulses. I said the only reason we believe that clothing prevents unbridled sex is that we're conditioned to believe that. If we were to simply be naked and act in a civil fashion, we would soon realise that sex and nudity do not necessarily go hand in hand. It all depends on how one approaches the situation and handles it.

It's a good thing streaming video didn't exist in those days, or you would have seen me GLARING at her while she smiled oh so smugly! Oh well, we were still friends then and continue to be friends today.
