For the newbies to TN and/or nudism, a refresher from a thread of June 2011...
I am new to nudism and haven't been nude around other nudists yet as i am very worried that the worse will happen. I am not a pervert or anything but i am just nervous about what would happen if i even got a little aroused. Has anyone ever been in a situation like that or witnessed? What to do?
You're not unique. That is the #1 question asked by men. Usually, it's by a young newcomer to TN and most likely to nudism, who is still living under the textile world's carefully-crafted illusion that nudity is inextricably linked to sex and that nudist facilities are hotbeds of rampant, promiscuous carnality. That illusion is often exacerbated by "nudist" websites that are little more than soft-core porn.
After being subjected to that mythology for years, it is all but inevitable that a "newbie" would have apprehensions about his biological response to a situation involving nudity in the presence of others. From what I gather from extensive reading on this and other naturist sites, half of the process of learning the truth about naturism is UNlearning the textile world's lies about it.
The AANR and TNS websites, as well as just about every resort/camp site, covers that possibility with wording that is pretty much standard, usually on a "first time" or FAQ page. Here is AANR's version from its
FAQ.
Do males get visibly excited?
Not often. Nudist clubs are far less sexually charged than places where bikinis, thongs, or other provocative clothing, are worn. On the rare occasion where this occurs, simply don a towel, turn over, or take a quick dip in the pool.
That same advice can be found on the vast majority of legitimate naturist websites with just a cursory search, and in several TN threads.
One of our witty members noted that the subject arises more often than the object. A major factor is that the imagination plays a large role in the psysiological responses that produce tumescence. In a nudist environment, there is nothing hidden, and thus the imagination is left with nothing to do.
Add to that the reality that, unlike the myriad photos and videos of "nudist" locations and events, the large majority of real nudists are not hard-bodied babes and hunks. They're normal people from young folks to seniors, with the wide variety of body types, shapes, sizes and imperfections that make up the population at large, united by their common interest in (or passion for) living the liberating and relaxing clothes-free life.
Do woodies happen? Yep, on infrequent occasions. What's the standard response? It depends where one is at the time. I have no idea what the accepted procedure is at nude beaches. In the resorts, there are several options, usually listed on the websites of the resorts and nudist organizations. One is to use the towel that is the standard "wear" of resort nudists, rearranging it casually to cloak the little guy. Another is to take a dip in the pool if it's nearby. If one is sunning, just roll over and go butt-up until it passes. Then just think of Michael Moore in a thong, which is guaranteed to cure priapism, let alone wilt the random wild willy.
Wherever it might occur, avoid drawing attention to the situation. What the owner of the stiffy does with it is the issue. If he discreetly deals with it, no one will say a word. If he jumps up on the nearest picnic table, grabs it by the neck, pumps his pelvis like a jackhammer, and bellows, "Hey, babes, how about a piece of this?" he will instantly draw the attention of people who will not be amused.
In short, don't worry about it. If anything, stage fright for a first-timer is likely to result in the Seinfeld Syndrome -- shrinkage. To be sure, the initial exposure to nude people sunning or sitting or walking about is a cultural shock. That lasts maybe five minutes max. Then the realization comes that they aren't staring at you or pointing and giggling, and that you are just one more nude body in a group.

Re woodies in albums, that's a nono, period. Yes, they happen during photo shoots. However, whereas the turgid member is probably not by choice, posting the photo(s) of it is. Don't do it and no one will complain.
