About Haulover Beach
It is believed that Haulover got its name from an early fisherman in the area a man named "Baker" who would regularly "haul" his sponge boat from Biscayne Bay over the thickly wooded dunes to the ocean at this spot. Mention of Baker's Haulover appear on maps as early as 1823. The practice was passed along through later generations of fisherman. There is ample parking for $6, a bathroom, outside showers, food vendors, chairs, and umbrellas. The clothes-free area is fenced off from the rest of the beach but is clearly the most popular area.
Directions to Haulover Beach
From South: Either I-95 North to I-195 East across Julia Tuttle Causeway then North on Collins/A1A just past Bal Harbor or just take Collins/A1A from South Beach. From North: I-95 South, take Exit 18 EAST to Hallandale Beach on Hallandale Beach Blvd., turn RIGHT onto A1A/Ocean Drive. Beach parking will be on the right just past all the development on Sunny Isles Beach.

All I remember about Haulover Beach is the best because it was the first place where I experienced public social nudity and really got hooked up.
I visited it 3 times during my vacations, enjoyed every moment, was very happy with friendly beach neighbors who also were not intrusive.

For New Years I decided to go to a nude beach for the first time. I was nervous at first but got comfertable very quickly. I was walking around and meeting new people in no time. This place makes it easy for beginners. I am definitly making this a frequent spot (wearing clothes at the beach no longer makes sence). I'm probably going back tommorrow, if I'm not too burnt.
There is a large gay population though, if your homophobic you might have trouble. I may be full of myself but I saw quite a few dudes checking me out.
Pros
accomidating atmosphere, aqua blue water, warm all year long, sweet snack bar
Cons
no surfing, some fully dressed creepy guys, guy/girl ratio is disappointing

I'm interested to know why the "profile photo" of Haulover Beach in Florida has, instead, a photo that appears to be a beach in California...which is obviously at least 3000 miles away? All I can say is, change the photo to reflect reality !

Every time I visit FL, I take a trip to Haulover. Sometimes I go with friends, and sometimes I go alone. Every time I have a great time. North Miami Beaches are really beautiful in their own right. However, Dade County has gone the extra mile with Haulover. There is ample parking near the marina and boat yard. It is a short walk to the beach which has all the amenities you could want. The beach is beautiful, and the county has installed showers right on the beach. The shower location allows you to rinse off the salt and stay until the very last minute before you shower and leave. No more running back to the condo to shower before meeting friends for dinner.
If you forget to pack a lunch, umbrella or chair, there are concessions there to help you out. I have even seen masseurs set up tables to give massages. Really a great place for everyone.
