I have been a naturist for nearly six years. It has given me life where there was little before.
I have experienced events (world naked bike ride), beaches (we have 2 in brighton), beauty spots (Abbey House Gardens), communities (naturist clubs) and naked walks (everywhere I can reach).
But the one area I am falling short is FRIENDS.
Yes I have quite a few male pals with whom I go nudewalking or meet at beaches and I would not be without them for the world. But I have no female friends in naturism at all. Neither as just pals nor more intimately!
Maybe I am a pain in the bare ass. But then so are most blokes I meet and it is often that individuality that makes people interesting, gives them character.
I always hoped to have as many female "friends" as male, maybe more. Why? Because I often find exclusive male company too oppressive, competitive.
The real problem, I feel, is that I am asexual. Therefore I do not have that hormonal chemistry that all other males possess which attracts females. Now if you think that is putting too much emphasis on sex in friendship, just look around you. Virtually the entire English-speaking western world has been brainwashed by mass media and big business into a 24/7 sexual mindset, because that is easy money. To fight it off you have to be a luddite, a rebel ...or an asexual.
My experience is that naturists are less conditioned, more open-minded than mainstream society, so it should be easier, surely. So given that, why is it that even in naturism it seems near-impossible to make a non-sexual, celibate, platonic friendship with a female?
It strikes me that, even though people may not intend to engage sexual liaison with the opposite sex, they are still conditioned to only be attracted to them though sexual factors..... i.e. hormonal chemistry.
.....and I am outside the circle.
So, you ask, "don't you want love as well?"
Yes ...... more than anything in the world. Yes, I do find females more visually attractive than males, so there is some instinct in me. I do want a female partner, but it has to be a celibate thing; and why not? If it impossible to love, cuddle, kiss and empathise with someone without sex being in there somewhere .....how come that is how I loved my Mother, GBHS?
I can improvise and compromise, physically, but that only emphasises what I can't do. There are no Paralympics in the world of sexuality. Yet to avert my trauma, my partner would have to "go without". That I could never force on anyone!
So I have taken a conscious decison to avoid "relationships", in the unlikely event they may occur, for the sake of both sides .....unless there is someone out there for whom, if she never sees another penis....... it will be too soon!
Instead, I just want girl-friends rather than girlfriends. Like my male friends Richard, Bernard, Roger, Rick, Jesse etc., but possibly better-looking (not compulsory) and not so macho (imperative)!
First off, I would like some e-penpals online so that we can share stories and help each other out when it all gets too much out there. But mainly I want to meet some local female naturists, in the Sussex/London/kent area, so that we can meet to share the world around us.
And then maybe there will be that cuddle!
