Enjoy the Sunshine State, Sunnyside up!
The Sunshine State boasts one officially legal nude beach - perhaps one of the most well known nude beaches in the world - yet several shores are discreet enough to allow for clothing-optional escapes.
From the scenic Gulf Coast to wildlife refuges and the bustle of Miami, these beaches should be a bucket list toppers for anyone looking to experience the Florida's nude beach scene.
Haulover Beach
Set in Miami of Dade County, Florida, Haulover Beach is one of the most famous nude beaches in the country. A fully legal nude public beach (the only one in Florida), the white-sanded Haulover Beach spans .5 miles, and also offers volleyball, boating, and nightlife.
South Beach
Stick around the Miami area for another familiar beachfront, South Beach - where barred-all beach goers are no strangers. Nude sunbathing is common, while other activities include shopping and nightlife.
Playalinda Beach
Found on the Canaveral National Seashore along Florida's eastern coast, Playalinda Beach neighbors cities like Titusville, New Smyrna Beach, and of course Cape Canaveral. Also known as Playa Lynda, this wildlife-heavy beach is discreet, though not an official nude beach.
Apollo Beach
Also found on the Canaveral National Seashore, Apollo Beach is yet another discreet stretch of sand known traditional as a nude beach. Neighboring Mosquito Lagoon, Apollo Beach attracts many low-profile naturalists to its unofficial clothing-optional shores. Nearby activities include golf at the Apollo Beach Golf Club, horseback riding, and ranger programs with the Canaveral National Seashore.
Hobe Sound Beach
Located on Jupiter Island in southeastern Florida, the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge is known as a crowd-free stretch where naturalists may tan in peace. Once you've had enough sun, be sure to see the Jupiter Outdoor Center and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, or check out some of the multi-million dollar mansions on Jupiter Island.
Air Force Beach
A former nude beach of the 60s and 70s, Air Force Beach - known officially as John D. MacArthur Beach State Park - is set along a stunning barrier island in southeast Florida. Though legal nudism was nixed in 1982, Air Force Beach can still be clothing-optional if the sunbather is discreet.
