Important Details

Come to Light Horse Park at 11:00 AM Saturday July 24, 2021 to meet, body paint, and decorate bikes. The ride starts from there at 1:00 PM, as bare as you dare, for 17 km at a leisurely 5 to 15 kph pace with mostly easy elevation. Bicycles, ebikes, scooters and escorted are welcome. Sorry, no skates or skateboards due to Municipal Traffic Bylaw 5590 Part V(75) preventing those vehicles on roadways. Stick around for the post-ride pub meet to discuss and plan for future events like this :) https://goo.gl/maps/e8tproTH2jCqJHGH8 We'll follow provincial/city Covid-19 mandates for mask and social distancing requirements. All participants must keep their clothes traveling with them during the ride, in case of breakdown. There will be a few short breaks on the route if you need a public washroom (get dressed first!). There are also a few public washrooms near Light Horse Park, directly 2 blocks south at the Strathcona Public Library (Calgary Trail) and Strathcona Farmer's Market (Gateway Blvd), or three blocks south on the North-East corner of Gateway Blvd and Whyte Ave. Our bad weather backup day is TBD, but we'll only use it if it'll be downright chilly or pouring rain.

What to Bring

A decorated, legal mode of transportation, meaning at least one effective brake and a bell, horn, or noisemaker, in accordance with the Alberta Traffic Safety Act. Bicycles with more than one gear are recommended. A backpack or basket to keep clothes with you at all times, but keep your shoes on! Mask and social distancing requirements at the time of the ride. Helmets are encouraged, but decorative hats are welcome Properly inflated tires to reduce your chance of getting a flat. Also, a replacement tire and installation tools, if not too cumbersome. Sunscreen Water and snacks Your own body paints, markers, watercolors (some will be provided) Music & portable speakers (only one active on the ride please!)
