Club Orient Updates ... 2018

This topic will be for any factual updates on Club Orient's progress to rebuild ... NO RUMORS please ...

From Club Orient's Facebook page this morning ... 2/22/2018

Finally, our long-awaited clean-up has begun. We have a crew on-site 6 days per week with heavy equipment removing all the debris and refuse from the storm. We all would have liked to be able to start sooner, but it has been a logistical nightmare for the Copro (HOA) who is responsible for the vast majority of Club Orient grounds.
It is estimated it will take 4 to 6 weeks to completion and we can then look forward to beginning the repair on the units not completely destroyed by Irma. It is still our goal to have units to rent by years end.
We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as can. All of this would not have been possible without your much appreciated support and the kind notes which you continue to send, never fail to remind us that without you we would have no reason to rebuild.

RE:Club Orient Updates ... 2018

Latest update from Club O's Facebook page.

WE'VE BEEN BUSY!
For the last four weeks Club Orient Resort has had a crew of up to 18 people, countless trucks and heavy equipment clearing and cleaning the destruction which Irma left us this past Fall. It has been a huge task and is now nearing completion.
The next step is the rebuilding phase which the owners, represented by the Copro (similar to an HOA) have been diligently working on with the Syndic, an architect and others involved in this monumental undertaking. I know many felt it should have moved faster, but between often changing rules by the government and issues with the insurer in Paris, it has not been slowed down by any lack of very aggressive effort and enthusiasm, on the part of the Copro.
While there are still issues remaining and obstacles to overcome, the plan is still to have at least some of our rooms available early this winter to welcome our guests back to Club Orient Resort. It will be an ongoing process to repair and replace some rooms which simply no longer exist, except perhaps for the foundation and in some cases, even that has disappeared!
Meanwhile, we have also had very successful negotiations with the Collectivitee to secure the land adjacent to the current Club Orient property and thanks (again) to the generosity of our wonderful guests, we have had our architect draw up a series of "concept" drawings and plans to augment the existing resort and formalize our use of the land we already occupy. It was these drawing which were crucial in our talks with the government to secure the land currently used, but not owned by Club Orient, and which we need to help insure that even with another storm
we will be in a more secure environment.
We are not showing the concept renderings as yet, because they are just that, concept drawings and will most assuredly change and evolve as the process continues. As soon as we have some certainty about this and other areas of the rebuilding, you will get it from us.
Meanwhile, the Perch Lite, Watersports, Massage and even the souvenir stand continue to serve our displaced guests and yes, even the cruise ship people are beginning to return to the beach. Randy and Cedrick have worked very hard, and often 7 days a week, to keep an eye on things, as well provide service to the people who visit.
Thanks again to all of you for your support and patience. There are some days when we get through only because we get a text or email letting us know you're thinking about us. For those who have donated to the rebuilding fund, without you we could not have retained the architect, which was crucial in our dealings with the government on the adjacent land.
Thank you.
