Our first Bare Necessities cruise (also our first cruise of any sort)

We're registered and paid for the upcoming Bare Necessities cruise in 2019. We've yet to make the plane arrangements (from New York). We're on the 9th deck. Looking for tips as to what to pack and what we need to keep in mind with the upcoming cruise. Grateful to see this group on a friends profile.

I would say pack as you would for a regular cruise, but you haven't been on one! You have to be dressed when the ship is in port and if you want to go to dinner at the Main Dining Room, so that can guide how much to pack. If you don't mind eating at the buffet on the pool deck, you could spend entire sea days without wearing anything. This year is on a Carnival ship, so there are self-serve laundromats on most decks, if you want to pack less for the trip. You can either buy single-use detergent boxes from the ship or bring something like a Tide pod.

There are good packing lists for everything besides clothes on sites like cruisecritic.com so take a look there.

Also, don't worry about packing any formal stuff. There is no set formal night on the BN cruises. Rules for what can be worn in the MDR are more relaxed than a regular cruise, although we just got back from a regular cruise and saw some pretty casual stuff in the MDR there as well.

Thanks, that helps a good deal and gives us a great starting point.
