RE:Nudism and Myths

More than one person has told me I'm just a sexual deviant and I just like playing with myself all day. More than once I've been asked if all we do is just sit around have sex all time cuz that's all they can see us doing while we're nude.

Most non-nudists cannot separate nudity from sex, so when they see a nudist they believe that person must be looking for sex.

RE:Nudism and Myths

It is true that many people associate nudity with sex - either because that's the only reason they get naked (except in a locked bathroom) or because of porn or the use of nudity to titillate in marketing. A woman in Blackpool organised a petition and demonstration against a BN nude swim for that reason, thinking children would be exposed to perverted activity. They just don't understand that nudists make a very clear distinction between nudity and sex. Each has its place - each in a different place.

But once they accept that they wonder why we would want to wander around naked. They wouldn't dream of it! We must be weird! HE did an article on how the public see us last month. It was all about whether we are weird. When people ask me I find it hard to explain why I enjoy being naked - it's just in my make-up. I can respond by mentioning stamp collectors, train spotters, butterfly collectors, twitches - the list is endless of odd-ball activities. In UK law it isn't illegal to be naked in public, partly as a human right to express our lifestyle (likened to some minority religions).

When I've been naked in a none CO place (usually on a nude hike) the people I meet think it a bit quirky but mostly accept it. Some will say Nice weather for that or It's a bit chilly for that. I overheard one couple we met on a mountainside say I've read about that but never seen it before.

I think the uneducated believe nudism equates to sex or perversion. While there are some on here who try to ruin it for the rest of us, the rest of us know that's not the case.

I think the biggest myth among non-nudists is that they (the non-nudists) don't like nudity. It may be sexually driven, especially at first, but they like to look if not be looked at. If there were not legal issues, I believe that a lot more men would work and play nude, especially if water is in the equation. We don't seem to have the body issues that women have, yet I guess that I will always find it strange that women will wear clothing that completely displays their size and shape ( yoga pants, sports bras and tops, and bikini swim suits) yet be unnerved about being nude.

one myth that i think pops up is that guys tell me they are afraid they would get erect. I assure them that it is not the issue they think it will be and to not worry about it.

It's weird because those folks seem to just have one thing on their mind so they assume the same of genuine nudist situation but truth is if you are thinking sex it is highly likely you get an erection especially if you are doing a non sexual activity

I must admit that was my main fear before my first social nudist experience. The truth was that the situation was so relaxed and friendly that it was never an issue
