The two Carolinas

I live in Statesville, North Carolina, about an hour north of Charlotte.

Depending on the career I get, like one I'm looking into with an Orlando and a Dallas campus, they make use of the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, about an hour from Charlotte the other way -- next to the other Carolina's border. So assuming I'll be making my "pilgrimages" there, that puts me in the state for short bursts. The nearest resort would be, I guess, Carolina Foothills in Chesnee, SC.
