The article says the Parks department would pursue the request...does anyone know if a determination was ever made? It would be great to have a CO beach near Tri-cities. Closest are about 2 hours away, which is a bit of hassle and prevents those spur of the moment, " I got off work early and just want to catch some rays before dinner" outings.

Yesterday I went to Hover Park (460610.44 N, 1185812.94 W) to see whether it is appropriate for CO designation. It is not easy to get to so that's a plus. On the downside the park is covered with off-road vehicle tracks. In fact, as I was leaving, a dirt bike was entering the park. There is a fair stretch of actual beach and smaller patches in various spots around the cove, which has a fair amount of brush, long grass, and small trees. It should be easy to find a corner to make CO.
