RE:Shorter Shorts

I hope they make a comeback. Easier to run with shorts that dont go all the way down your thighs to your knees. Do they still make the really thin short ones with the cutaway sides?

I live near two mid size universities. I often see the men's cross country and track teams on training runs.
Don't know the brand, but many of them are wearing very short shorts split to the waist and no shirt.

Those read shorts with no lining I would be very afraid of my goodies popping out especially when doing squats and crunches and anything aerobic like jumping lolIf that comment was for me, the 5" ones are snug enough on the thigh that I don't have to worry about things popping out.The 3" ones are a little risky so I am only wearing them when I need to cover at home.I don't have to worry about things popping out when I exercise, Now that I do most of it in the basement at home, I'm not wearing anything!

Shortest shorts feel more annoying and confining every time I wear them. Considering either opening the side and crotch seams for more freedom or just ripping them to shreds. Anyone prefer one idea over the other?

Now that I am so comfortable with my 5" inseam gym shorts, I am seriously considering replacing my 8" cargo shorts with something the same length.
Any opinions or experience with this type of shorts?

RE:Shorter Shorts

I bought one pair of 5" dress shorts a few months ago and found them ideal for most places,
I have therefore decided that as my 8 to 10 inch dress shorts wear out, I will replace them with 5 inch shorts. I do have 2 pairs of zip off cargo pants that become about 9 inch shorts that I can wear the few places where I would not be comfortable with the shorter ones.

On further thought, I decided that I really don't have any use for them so I destroyed them by my favorite method. Cut and ripped them while wearing them until there was nothing left but the waistband which I then removed and threw out with the other pieces.

Why wait? Ordered 3 pair of 5" dress and cargo shorts today.
When they arrive, the longer ones will go!

Shorts arrived yesterday.
Two pair of the longer ones will go on the next trash day,
While I will keep the pair that is in the best shape for a while, I suspect that after wearing shorter shorts most of the time, the longer ones will feel so burdensome that they will be gone soon also!

I think you are right. I got rid of all my longer ones. The longest I own are 7 but I almost never wear them. 4 and 5 inchers are almost all I wear.

I have a similar issue. I have 2 pair of cargo pants that convert to shorts that are just above the knee. I can't seem to find any shorter ones. The only time I wear them as shorts is if I need long pants for part of the day and won't be home to change in between.
