I would love to wear a Kilt for hiking or even just going out ...

I think mine is "manly" enough but I do get some looks. It is similar to the one here:

and comes to well above my knee - about as short as hiking shorts. It is much more comfortable than pants, especially when hiking.

No, I haven't take one of me in it. Imagine the one in the photo but 2 inches shorter.

Either it is quite a bit more than 2" shorter or your hiking shorts are a lot longer than mine (5" inseam).
