Regret not speaking up
I was born in the forties when circumcision was the norm but learned over time that it was a bad idea. When my son was born, I never discussed the situation with the doctor and was shocked when I found that he had done the procedure without any request from me. I was angry but felt helpless to do anything at that point. Later when my daughter became pregnant, I started lobbying with her to leave my grandsons complete. She was not convinced right away but eventually came around to my way of thinking. My efforts were successful and now I have seven grandsons who are complete with all the equipment that they were born with. It is with great regret that I did not take a vocal stand and address the topic when my son was born.
