Is watching hardcore/softcore porn while masturbating a sin?

I know I said earlier in the year that I stopped masturbating because I found it a sin. Well I resumed to do so back in June. It's one of my biggest weaknesses as a Christian. I do it while watching hardcore/softcore porn. Is that a sin by watching that kind of porn? How do I stop? How do I continue to masturbate without watching hardcore/softcore porn?

It sounds like you think masturbation is a sin?

I am still shocked after all these years at how many people are into porn. I just don't see the attraction of watching strangers in what are SUPPOSED to be their most intimate moments. Imagine if you and your wife were having a great time in the bedroom, and then you noticed a peeping tom at the window. Would you agree that what the peeping tom was doing is sin? Also, do you lust after the people in the films? Yes, I believe that watching porn is sin, because it violates people in these ways.

So, how to masturbate without porn? I know of two ways: one that I use myself, and one that I have heard of from others.
1. Use your imagination. Imagine what you would like to do with your intimate partner, and make pictures in your head. I masturbate best with my eyes closed!
2. Focus on sensations that your body enjoys, and how to create those sensations.

How do I continue to masturbate without watching hardcore/softcore porn?

I think wildling_73 has a point. I use the shower since its such a comfortable environment and you're going to use it anyway.
I simply let my imagination take over and think of different scenarios. When I ejaculate the clean up is easy. My wife is thankful I can be satisfied and relaxed when we don't have time for regular sex.
I enjoy it more when years ago I decided that it wasn't naughty or dirty and something that God gave us as a gift and we should embrace masturbation.

Oh my goodness, how true.
Hubby and I both very much enjoy masturbating whether its alone, together or doing it to each other. Since I work in a home office I can take a break during the day and satisfy myself at random. During warm weather I love going out on the back patio to enjoy the warm sun shining down and maybe a short nap after a physically, mentally and spiritually satisfying orgasm. The shower is also a wonderful location as Audiobiker mentioned. My eyes closed and a vivid fantasy imagination can do wonders.

We have found our brains are the most erotic organ we have. We don't need any porn to stimulate us. Hubby and I have a lively sex life and masturbating is a part of it. We have never thought of it as evil, but a wonderful gift God has provided to us as long as we keep our addictions under control.

I totally agree with this. There is nothing negative or sinful about masterbation or what turns you on to have sex with yourself. Learning to love your self is the greatest love of all.

Both masturbation and watching porn are a sin. Im shocked that other Christians dont believe this. I grew up in the Catholic Church, went to Catholic school and in the books of James, Matthew and 2 Corinthians, it talks about lusting after someone who is not your current wife being a sin. The only way masturbation would not be classified as a sin is if you are married and thinking about your wife. Otherwise, all bets are off.

In which world are you born? Did you ever think about that "religions" and "God" are HUMAN creations to make your life full of unnecessary troubles. Aren't laws and punishment in daily life enough to assure some kind of living together in peace? Sex is one of the only pleasures that cost nothing and, made alone, not disturbing anybody. Why regulate private pleasure of a boy/ girl and for what reason? Do you still believe that sex only has to be practiced to produce more and more children in a overcrowded world???? Think about that!

I have learned a lot about masturbation from eroticengineering and jonathans circle online and can recommend them as I continue to evolve. Is masturbation a sin? Defining sin as what separates us from God, I agree it can be. Is the shame and abuse of a church institution a sin if it numbs a boy to the point that he cant feel himself masturbating or even making love to his wife? Yes it can and that's part of my history.

My masturbation practice is helping me to feel again. For me it's crucial that it involves touch and not pornography, and that the frequency is in synch with my energy and prostate flows. I am also doing a lot of core strengthening to get my feeling and core dynamics reestablished. But who am I to say porn is evil if perhaps it can be inspiring to hit the gym and grow out a 70s style stache? For now I say yes to bating and no to porn since it objectifies people in a world where we need to do love people and use things, and not the other way around.

Both masturbation and watching porn are a sin. Im shocked that other Christians dont believe this.
There are many Christians who don't believe that Catholics are Christians. There are whole shelves of books -- all by Protestant authors, of course -- purporting to "prove" that Catholicism is paganism. Does this, too, shock you?

One thing that all fundamentalists, Catholic and Protestant, have in common is a belief that the only "real" Christians are the ones who share their particular legalistic values. I offer instead the words of Our Savior, that all of the law and the prophets are summed up in "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself."

So in evaluating whether or not a given act is sin, far better than looking for some legalistic prooftext, is to be completely honest with ourselves as to whether or not love is the motivation. One can sin by perfectly obeying the Law, if one does so for an unloving reason.
