What is the actual purpose of wearing underwear?
I have never really understood why we all seem to feel it so necessary to wear underwear - perhaps someone can explain as I just find it very uncomfortable and too hot especially in summer

Underwear became popular in the mid 1800's I think. The reason being a very practical one. It was much easier to wash a small item of underwear than a bigger, thicker outer garment.
After that it just became normal, and then socially expected.
The only time I used to wear underwear was when I had on khaki slacks. I have a meatotomy and no matter how much I shake my dick after peeing, I still have a few drops of piss dribble out and the underwear kept from causing a wet spot on the khakis. Then I started wearing a rubber O ring around my foreskin and that keeps all the dribble inside. No more underwear and no more wet spot!
When I was younger, tight underwear prevented erections from being so obvious. As I got older, that has become less necessary . Now I only wear underwear to catch any leakage....( after all, I AM older!).

Well, the original purpose of underwear was to have a layer of clothing that was easily washable between your body and the outer clothing which wasn't gandered as much and it helped keep it clean. There's a long history and now it's all tied up in sex.
Well underwear actually protects our privates while we busy doing our day to day work. It keeps privates in proper position while doing so. Also if u r involved in heavy work u need support for ur balls else it might result in hydrocele a kind of situation when fluids gets accumulated in balls sack.
Why do men in gym wears supporter even when they are wearing undies is the same reason. No matter how enthusiastic naturist we are we can't deny these facts.
