I doubt it. They may have taken it for something else. Leonard Nimoy picked up that gesture from the hand position Jewish priests (kohanim) use during a blessing, but I've never heard a whisper of any concerns about cultural appropriation, irreverence, or anti-Semitism around it, and I highly doubt that the siterunners would be so creative as to invent such a cultural stringency.

I can see how someone not well versed it Trek could make that mistake, especially if they are of a generation more familiar with WWII than in Star Trek...

I tried putting me doing Vulcan salute for profile pic, but it apparently gets taken down. Is there something inappropriate about it that I don't know?

In the UK, the V sign is "fuck you", and the other meaning of the gesture is vagina.
