Are you ready for AI generated fake nudist accounts

Recently read the Naturist Education foundation Dec 2022 newsletter that featured an article on AI generated nude photos and paintings. If you arent familiar with the rise of AI online google Chat GPT Midjourney and DALL-E. They are all emerging proprietary and Open AI algorithms that are touted as being able to generate written and visual content that seems human and real.

Soon it may be hard to distinguish between real nudist accounts based on photos or text posts. I believe I already spotted one such account on this site.

Eager to see how the forums resident one trick pony will morph this into a discussion about male discrimination at resorts.

RE:Are you ready for AI generated fake nudist accounts

So here's your one trick pony responding. The article "Rise of the Machines" talks about AI generated art, but it's really just a way of automating something like Photoshop which has been used for years. I see a bigger threat with AI related to bot-driven misinformation on social media.

The magazine's review of the 1932 movie "This Nude World" is intriguing in how it highlights the vigorous calisthenics, interpretative dance and nudism's early Germanic concepts of physical welfare and "gymnosophy," or the combination of nakedness and wisdom to achieve simplicity, temperance and continence in every phase of life which extends beyond the practice of nudity to a thorough change in outlook. This seems to be largely lost in contemporary US nudism, much to its demise. I'm happy that it's present in events such as world naked bike rides and threads on TN such as "Revive the Y." =

And yes, true to form, I'll point out that the younger people most inclined to practice this ultra-traditional nudism focused on physical vitality and exercise are exactly the young families and single males banned from resorts. By embracing a more gymnosophic approach to physical social activities without clothes, these young people are reclaiming nudism for the future likely under new names.

Whie I agree that groups LIKE Revive the Y are good, I have a problem with that one in particular similar to your problem with traditional clothing optional resorts.
The moderator kicked me out and blocked me so I can't even find out what the problem was!

Ay! Nudism needs more compassion and less judgment all over the place! And it starts with each of us.

RE:Are you ready for AI generated fake nudist accounts

The original post was about an article exploring the role AI will play in the depiction of naturism online. Naturism is meant to connect real people what will happen to it online if there is no way to tell if someone is actually who they say they are or if the account is even from a real person or AI generated?

If catfishing see definition below is the norm how will that impact naturism and the growth of the naturist community? Will people exploring naturism for the first time just become catfishing victims? Some of that already exists without this technology. What happens if the tech permeates everything naturist online? Will we be able to actually tell how many real naturists there are? How will that affect naturist advocacy efforts for clothing optional beaches more public spaces for social naturism etc?
Is there an ethical way to use AI to benefit naturism?

Catfishing is a deceptive activity in which a person creates a fictional persona or fake identity on a social networking service, usually targeting a specific victim.[1] The practice may be used for financial gain, to compromise a victim in some way, as a way to intentionally upset a victim, or for wish fulfillment. Catfishing television shows have been produced, often featuring victims who wish to identify their catfisher. Celebrities have been targeted, which has brought press attention to catfishing practices.

RE:Are you ready for AI generated fake nudist accounts

There are so many fake profiles on TN that they outnumber the genuine nudists just trying to find like minded people to connect with and share their like of being nude in nature. There must be some AI that can weed out all those empty profiles with stolen pics (universities used anti plagiarism software) that would help the moderators who must be swamped. That and culling the inactive profiles which after being established don't have any activity or log on again. The catfishers putting up these fake profiles are a stain on the nudist movement.

Thank you for a thoughtful comment. Your perception is correct it is extremely time consuming to moderate the fake profiles. The emergence of AI will make it even harder. As you suggest that will make it even harder to promote genuine nudism. I think that is the goal for some people.
