Hippie Hollow
Forgive me for the non daring subject, but I'm looking for input about this place. I'm going to SanAntonio the end of this month and wanna spend a few hours there, never been. Any ideas/suggestions/heads up........etc etc. Also any other places to be naked near there would be considered also. thanx
Hello, Dan. I have been trying to respond to your request for information about Hippie Hollow since I saw your post, several days ago. The site has had some technical difficulties and has not been cooperative. That seems to be fixed now.
First of all, I have to say that information in this response MAY BE a little "dated" since I haven't been to Hippie Hollow in quite a few years. There are, of course, SOME features of the park that will NOT have changed. So, with that caveat...
Dan, forgive my pointing out the obvious but...you DO know you are heading to Hippie Hollow in what is normally a very cold month down in Texas? Here's hoping the day you get to go is a bright, sunny day, but, even then, you are likely to find the park lightly attended, at BEST.
Hippie Hollow is the only officially NUDE state park in Texas. It's located on the western shores of Lake Travis, just outside Austin. Access to the park is from Bee Caves Road, Texas Ranch-to-Market Road 2222. There is a kiosk at the entrance and drivers are required to stop, pay the user fee, and pick up a brochure listing the park's do's-and don'ts. One of the main "don'ts" concerns nudity in the car park. The main car park is UP on a bit of a mesa, and readily visible to passing traffic on Bee Cave Road. Visitors are required to remain clothed until below the rim of the mesa and out of sight from the road. There is usually a mobile canteen in the car park, selling water, snacks, etc.. All trips to and from the car park, to your vehicle or to the mobile canteen, for example, must be done COVERED.
The shore line of the lake has several hiking trails around it and some toilet facilities. The entire park is patrolled by Travis County law enforcement, to keep it free from blatant sexual activities. Of course, SOME go on anyway...but if you stay down by the water's edge, you will probably not see any.
Depending on the amount of recent rainfall in the area, the lake itself can be a bit away from the car park...but I would STILL recommend you take along a cooler with plenty of water, some food (sammiches are good!) and some snacks. Leave your cooler in your vehicle, go down to the lake with a blanket, towel or other items to "mark" your territory, then go BACK to the car for the rest of your essentials. The shore line around the lake is, for the most part, very rocky. The trails and tree line are a bit farther back.
The wife and I used to drive there from San Antonio and, as to be expected, there are more than ONE way to get there. Depending on your starting point, Google for driving directions and choose what suits you best. The wife and I liked to take the lesser-travelled back roads, even if the time to the park was a little longer...for obvious reasons. LOL
Dan, I hope you have some good weather for your visit and get to have a nice NUDE experience at Hippie Hollow.

Was the obvious reason that you traveled nude?
Dan, a quick update on visiting Hippie Hollow. Please use Google Maps...or your preferred search engine, to get driving directions to the park. JUST as I feared, my feeble old memory did NOT serve me very well when it came to directions! It turns out that Hippie Hollow is actually on Comanche Trail, NOT Bee Cave Road. Mea culpa!
Very much appreciate the info Tanner. Yes I realize the weather could be a factor, but if I get lucky then I have to go lol. Does anyone know of other nude options in the Austin or San Antonio area? If not Hippie Hollow, where else could I go for a naked good time?
