Of course, we're all human. To deny sexuality is ... weird.
Sexuality is frowned upon by sects within the nudist/naturist community, but not everyone.
It falls under the "time and place for everything" category.
One example is the World Naked Bike Ride here in Portland. The actual bike ride and gathering before and immediately after was full-on family friendly with no place for sexuality (other than clinical discussions or something). As the afterparty (outside in a out of the way, but public place) wore on, it became less ... eh, "family friendly." It was still a nudist event, still open to everyone, but maybe not the children. But at that hour, why would anyone have children around anyway?
As far as I can tell, sexuality has a place in nudism but it depends on where one is.
So bored of this subject,
I go to the beach or spend time with people I do not fancy or find physically attractive, i am naked and so are they is this sexy? - no
I do this with someone I like beyond just normal friendship, we are naked is this sexy? - it can be
Is it because they are naked it becomes sexy? - it might be
Does that mean nudity is sexy? it can be
So naturism is sexy? Naturism equals nudity,
nudity can be sexy (so can being dressed) , just how many ways does this need to be discussed? At the right time with the right person in the right circumstances etc. I am not going to beat myself to death with a long stick just because I find someone sexy in fear of being cast from the naturist membership. What I am going to do is rant at any idiot who feels the need to become a saint and ignore biology just because they have taken their clothes off. Do you find people sexy when you are dressed, or they are clothed? do we need to talk about that, of course not, that is acceptable, what a load of hypocritical crap. People can be sexy clothed, naked, standing on their heads in a pool of mud, or any other activity we can engage in, get a grip people, I don't like wearing clothes i am certainly not going to start wearing a halo.
So bored of this subject,
Here, in the US of A, we have an interesting paradox. A dichotomy of sorts between puritanical values and a sex-"obsessed" culture. I think people like Kim Kardashian are a good example, who has managed to build a multi-million dollar empire based on a "leaked" sex tape and consistent exhibitionism. Although she is not a porn star in the strict sense of the term, she had managed to capitalize on our culture's sex-obsession, while at the same time portraying herself as a family-oriented businesswoman. Miley Cyrus used the same formula to boost her popularity and record sales. Only in America.
This dichotomy has led to a sort of tribalism in nudism. You're either part of the group that believes nudity and sexuality are interrelated; or part of the group that believes nudity and sexuality have nothing to do with each other. Even though many of us are somewhere in the middle, any assertion for or against "lumps" us in one category or the other. It's a little like politics: if you believe in helping the poor you're a radical liberal; if you believe in free market you're radical right-winger. The system is rigged in a way that you're almost "forced" to choose one side. And then, of course, you're always going to have conflict between the two "tribes."
(Right now I've got the Frankie goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes song going through my head lol)
I've mentioned my personal experience in several previous posts. I've experienced both ends of the spectrum; sometimes at separate times, sometimes within the same nudist event. Sometimes fleetingly, sometimes in a more pronounced way. I'm not going to judge someone because they got a little drunk at a nudist party and flirted with me a little "provocatively." I know that we are all sexual being and our sexuality can manifest, naturally or even unconsciously, given different circumstances. With or without clothes on.

Thank you an intelligent open reply from the other side of the Atlantic, this is refreshing as in the threads and main chat room i experience a reluctance to communicate and as you say- a fit in the the box and be seen to be in it or else we disconnect with you pressure, while in private communication even those who make simplified anti statements in public suddenly become very relaxed and open. It is like the UK in the 1950's. I find this is regional and not a nudist specific dichotomy, the US is seen to be progressive and a world leader as it exports a culture yet there is clearly a very defined split in attitudes there. I always relate this to the church influence as it is so often quoted by those who preach - do not talk openly, you are suggesting it is more of a cultural thing. It would be great if people contributed to this thread not with we don't want to talk about this but with- my opinion is this and the reason i have these views is.. culture is such a dark and easily manipulated thing. As an outsider of the US it does come across that the views expressed by many are a collective script almost dictated by social / political sector point of view not a personal based on life experience one.
Great reply thanks, I might no longer be bored now. Anyone else like to comment on culture vs human nature?
I feel that there isn't a sexual side to nudism. What the issue comes in is when people sexualize nudity and do the "perverted" twist of nudity. We were born naked it isn't sexual. We shower naked, it isn't sexual, but some how some people automatically equate nudity as sexual.

There is a sexual side to life full stop. So yes there is a sexual side to naturism as part of life. But naturism doesnt drive any additional sexual element. As with the rest of life it is a question of appropriate behaviour for the circumstances and respect for others.
This brings to mind the "my eyes are up here" For me and I only speak for myself no nudism isn't about sex in any way shape or form. I enjoy going camping because I get to meet other people that share an interest that I have ie camping. Naturism is very much the same way, I get to meet more like minded individuals.
