Return to DiscussionsOk Im not as young as you guys but not that old either. I usually strip down and stay nude until after I shower. This means I walk from my locker to the showers with my towel over my shoulder. I shower and towel off and hang my towel over my shoulder as I walk back to my locker. I put gel in my hair and clean my ears nude. After that I put on my clothes and leave. No looks from anyone that i have noticed but then again I dont really look around and definitely dont give a fuck what they think.
The shower I use is the handicap shower since it is bigger and has no door. The other gym I go to has a big community shower. I have yet to see anyone take a shower with clothes on. I have seen guys go into the shower stall with shorts on and close the door. Then they take off the shorts but they either wrap up in a towel or put the dirty shorts back on when they are done.
I typically don't mind being nude in the locker room or gym sauna at all. To me, it's just normal, and above all common sense to be nude in the showers and sauna.
However, many young people cover up with layers and layers... boxers, shorts, towels... if they shower at all, most of them just go half-dressed like that. They even go to the nude-only sauna all covered up.
I can understand that those guys may be a bit shy or self-conscious; nothing wrong with that. Strangely enough, those guys in turn sometimes make me feel self-conscious, as I feel like the odd one out when I'm the only nude dude in a nude-only sauna or the (gang) showers. I try not to let that bother me too much though, and I try to keep on setting the right example by just being naked when appropriate. Every now and then, I do notice a new guy following my lead, so we're slowly gettig there ;)
Im freely go nude in the locker room. Normally its just walking to and from the shower and then while getting stuff ready I dont worry about covering up. I have gotten a few odd looks but I dont usually pay people any mind while in the locker room.
I usually go freely naked in the locker rooms. It's typically from locker to showers and back again, but I drop my towel and stand naked at my locker while getting sorted. I'm also one of those that will chat you up while I'm naked - nothing to be ashamed of :)
They look at you because you dare to go against the norm of feeling ashamed about being nude. You're going against the grain because if a woman isn't there, you should have clothes on (because the only time it's okay for a man to be naked is if a woman is there). The brains of people I'm telling you...I guess you being naked in a place where you are more than free to be naked around men is "gay" and gay is bad.
I am always nude in the locker room, I absolutely hate trying to wrap the towel around me and hold it up while carrying my shower stuff. Always end up throwing my towel over my shoulder. I do get looks but a few people look then join, it feels like once someone sees one person doing it they feel more comfortable. Though my gym has a few regulars that are always naked and the locker room staff always seem more friendly to us. It is nice seeing some of the dads teaching their sons to be open too. Not teaching them to be prude and hidden.
I am always nude in my gym locker room. It's a great place to be nude in the Canadian winters haha. Always enjoy a nude sauna and shower after a workout. I find that most guys cover up in the sauna and showers but if you are nude when they enter the sauna, there is a better chance they will follow suit and hangout nude too!
I have to say the same thing about towels in a sauna/steamroom. Unless you're bringing a couple of them to the gym or your gym as towel service, I dont want to dry off after a shower with a saturated towel from the sauna haha. But nothing beats a cold night in Canada when you can relaxe and enjoy a sauna or steam in the nude after a hard workout!
