I had Photoshop on my old computer but havent purchased it again. Its a bit expensive for my regular use so Im wondering if anyone has suggestions for an editing tool thats user friendly and affordable.

RE:Photo Editing

My windows comes with a basic editing facility which can be used to crop a photo. But I haven't come across anything as good as Photoshop's Enhance - Auto Smart Fix facility. It will sharpen and adjust the exposure of otherwise poor photos. And all the other facilities are great too.

Whilst I have an old Photoshop CS on my computer I have not used it for years. Lightroom has all the editing facilities I need.

Depending on what you're looking to do, Beautune does a fine job of cleaning up basic flaws. And with a little creativity, you can push it beyond what it claims to do and manipulate your images beyond what it claims to do.

These are a few images that I cleaned up using Beautune.

There is a free open source photo editing tool called GIMP. It is a project run by volunteers as Photoshop was too expensive for most people. It is not as polished as Photoshop but has many, many of the same features. It is just a bit less intuitive.

If you have your original license key you can still run photoshop on a new PC. Either directly installing Photoshop if you can live with the glitches. Or if you are technical you can use free software called Oracle Virtual box to build a "virtual" windows XP PC or windows 2000 PC etc on your new PC. This lets you install and run your old software on a new computer that is pretending to be an old one.

In some cases you can just copy/clone your old hard drive and create a virtual PC from it. Giving you everything that you used to have. Sorry, that's probably too much information lol.
