Artistic Photos

This is a place to post your "artistic" photos for others to view and enjoy. However you choose to define "artistic" is up to each individual. The genesis of this idea for me was having taken some shadow/silhouette photos, wanting to share them, but not really knowing where to post them. They are "soft" nude photos that are more provocative than explicit. Hoping...

Hello all. My name is David and I am a newbie here. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am an amateur photographer that enjoys it as a serious hobby. I've enjoyed the outdoors all my life and am an avid hiker/camper. Many years ago I got into photography to go along with my outdoor activities. I use to only shoot scenic and nature pics while out on the trail. I've always thought the human form whether male or female was artistic perfection. So a few years ago I made the decision to branch out and give nude art photography a try. I found it difficult to find willing models so I began improvising by being my own model. It took a little practice using a tripod and the timer function on camera to accomplish this, but over time I learned a few tricks via trial and error to accomplish the task of being both photographer as well as muse. I look forward to sharing some of my work with you and encourage any feedback positive or negative. I really want to know what others think of my work. I look forward to making new friends here and learning from you to help me become a better photographer.

Hi David! I started out in the late '80s doing the same as you; loved to photograph people, but no chance of taking nudes other than myself. I was obsessed (in a positive way) with photography. I built my own studio and sets, as well as a darkroom for developing and printing my own films. I won competitions and loved what I was doing. Then when digital cameras came along I sold off all my gear. It was a while before I bought a computer and a cheap digital camera, but now I'm quite happy with the new technology. I've written before in my groups about the best ways to take nude 'selfies.'
Good luck with your photography!
Dave

Hey David,

Would love to see your images and talk about them with you. Just like you I have mostly been forced to be my own model and, like so many of us, for work reasons, feel I can't post many of those publicly. I still enjoy creating them and wish I could share them more, even though I am less than enamored with myself as a model. When I'm lucky, as I was recently, I get someone else to model. I like that process so much better for so many reasons, including the ability it gives me to look at what I'm shooting and adjust things. It also gives me a subject I find more visually appealing than myself and who I can be more objective in photographing.

I have been trying to get more serious in the art of what I'm doing and always looking to connect with others who share the interest. Would love to connect.
