I Hate Showering Alone

Return to Discussions

It is very lonely in fact, very weird to me, to have to close yourself up in a sort of a box in order to take a shower. I was lucky I guess I always went to schools with gang showers and grew up in a house that the previous owners did a real nice renovation on and broke through a wall to expand the bathroom, and put two of those really wide shower heads at one end of the bathroom by the window in a roomy glassed-in alcove that also had room for a nice size soaking tub too, so more often than not growing up I would be showering with my pop or my little brother or two of us showering while one of us was in the tub, and all this all open to the rest of the bathroom, the toilet, sinks, bench etc. so was always light and sunny and airy, and everybody in there could talk with everybody else. Bath time go nice this way when you can chill with your family or friends. So times in my life when I got to get all closed up in a separate shower stall it is weird for me, seems unnatural to me, like some weird jail. I have built my shoulders up to be fairly wide and when in a narrow shower stall I am always slamming my shoulders or my elbows into the sides. And always there is that faint smell of mold from the curtain or the tiles because they usually don't get sun to dry the curtains and tiles out good or UV rays to kill bacteria. Well, that's my beef haha.

In your world travels, should you ever have the chance to visit communal baths, go for it! Whether called a sweat lodge, sauna, hamman or spa, you'd likely be right at home. Good luck.
