Showering With Friends
For guys who like bathing with their buds. Taking a shower with friends.
Two Man ShowerReturn to Discussions
I purposely built a 2 man shower in my mater bedroom just for this exact situation. Me and my partner shower together in the morning, and its a great way to start our day. Chatting and just being with each other. I have had several guys in there at one time too and I think 4 of us at one time. Had a good time bonding.
Anybody else have a multi person shower?
Growing up we had a summer house by the lake, and we moved to "the cottage" from Memorial Day through Labor Day every year. The cottage had an outdoor shower...large enough for at least 4...though it was open-air, the walls & door were tall enough to keep the neighbors from seeing anything. It was not uncommon for 2 or more people to shower in there after a day at the beach. Even as adults, my brothers & I (and our friends) thought nothing of showering together like that. I guess if you grow up that way, it seems so natural.
In high school a lot of guys were facing the big, communal shower after gym class for the first time. Some were intimidated, and some were shy. It was a private all-boys high school, and the last thing you want at an all-boys school is for teenage boys to return to class without showering after sweating in the gym for an hour every afternoon. I was comfortable with the group shower, because of having shared the outdoor shower during summers. I had an edge over some of the other guys, in that regard. Still, I didn't walk around the locker room flaunting my naked body...but I do remember that there were guys who did just that.
In college it was the same thing. At the end of the hallway was one big communal shower...with 2 smaller, private showers off to the side. No one used the smaller showers, because it would have implied that those guys were too shy to shower with the rest of us...or we might assume they needed the privacy to masturbate in the shower...but either way, not showering with the rest of us would have singled a guy out as "queer" and subjected him to a lot of teasing from the rest of us.
After college, we still had communal showers at the gym, but (starting a few years ago) as the gyms were remodeled/updated or if the gym closed and moved to a newer building, the communal showers were gone. At first, all of the new private showers faced each other. So, we saw each other getting into and out of the shower or reaching for our towels through an open curtain (thus exposing ourselves anyway). Most guys didn't close the curtain anyway, because we saw no need for it. Today the 2 gyms that I belong to either have showers all along one wall with private changing rooms directly across...and the 24-hour gym doesn't offer showers at all.
The atmosphere now is very paranoid and suspicious and awkward in the locker room. I can't understand it. It is actually very rare for anyone to shower at the gym now, and those that do remain discretely covered as much as possible. I've even seen guys walk into a shower fully dressed, and they only undress once they are inside the shower curtain. ?????
My partner & I have a 4-person shower in our basement. We installed it to service the pool area right outside the basement door. However, it is a great space, we installed jets at 3 different levels, the whole thing is surrounded by cement block and thus visible to anyone entering, exiting, or hanging in the basement den. This is a home built by guys...for guys...and friends & overnight guests LOVE to use that shower when they are here. As communal, public showers become a thing of the past, I'm grateful I still have my own "communal shower" to share with friends & guests. Maybe this summer we can host an overnight event...if Covid cooperates...and allow our guests to enjoy the freedom, openness, and camaraderie of an open, communal shower!
