Politics and nudity?

Return to Discussions

Do you think any USA politician could get elected supporting more nude beaches/parks for nude recreation? German, yes. French, yes. Spanish, yes. In USA?

RE:Politics and nudity?

I think the answer is to promote it through the universities. I don't see politicians promoting anything of the sort as was stated earlier it would be suicide especially if it was someone on the right.I think the Youth of America are ready for a revolution in naturism. I for one would be willing to give seminars as I posted on the legal site in the Forum. I have met many of my son's friends who are totally into they're naked freedom but don't attend Resorts and beaches, just do it among friends.Educating the young minds at the colleges and universities about the freedom of naturism and its benefits would probably have more of a positive impact than any other method.

This has been my thought as well. In fact I have been a bit frustrated with the lack of targeting of the youth in the nudist community. I think the reason they tend to skew upward in age is sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. There need to been people willing to start and promote nudist clubs and such in universities. It should involve activities college students would be interested in.

The suggestions about encouraging it through events and universities is good. Last year Spencer Tunick was here for a photo shoot, the weather was cold but it got lots of TV coverage even on the commercial networks, possibly from a novelty or titillation perspective but it got coverage. There used to be a WNBR here but it seems to have stopped. About the main thing a government can do is not close existing CO beaches, allow nude events and not prosecute student events or people protesting. Normalising nudity and showing there is nothing to be afraid of would be a good start.

It seems political suicide for a large party to promote public nudity. Here in Oz we seem to be similar to the US in this regard and the right of politics claims the high moral and religious ground usually. I don't believe they represent ] 50% of the population but they have power through media connections and wealth. So the suggestions about normalisation would appear a good way to go.

Unfortunately, I do not believe that will happen. the United States is too repressed as a country and is getting more so by a large segment of the population. I do not agree with this but I find it almost impossible that any national candidate will have a basic political plank to support active nudity.

Maybe as a peripheral issue but they would likely get attacked for it and pained as a degenerate or something. I have heard from time to time of people running for local office who are nudists and they don't tend to get far even when the nudity is not a focus on their campaign.

RE:Politics and nudity?

I see a lot of posts here about educating people the benefits of nudity or being a naturist.

Here is the problem with this. Educating in the current fabric of American society is futile at best. Most Americans are so self entitled and self absorbed that even given proper, factual information on any topic they refuse to listen to, or understand what is being taught to them. Examples of this are clearly all around us during the COVID outbreak and then even more prevalent with the BLM movement. You give these people all the proper information and education and tools, but they just live in their self.

As for the main topic,

I am not so sure about political suicide anymore if a candidate actually does express a clear answer on their platforms anymore. In certain areas of the country yes it may, but after the last 4 years with Trump and his campaign, it is quite clear that Americans are fed up in general with our elections and politicians. I fear that this country is growing closer to civil war again, that may bring some massive changes again. The political landscape is just so overly polarized by media(social and old school) and with people getting information in mere seconds and being bombarded with more often than not false media, we are just a powder keg waiting to blow. The air has not been this hostile since Vietnam. I believe JFK was keeping the country together, but even he was aware of the changes in the climate and the divide between the generations alone was coming to a head and with his death, it shattered the thin wall and we saw massive uprising from the younger generation. This is just history repeating itself only this time it will boil over given the amount the population as grown since then.

Just my thoughts

Unpopular opinions, I know because I share them ;-) Someone once said "Never under estimate the stupidity of people in large groups". Watching the news I am starting to think stupidity has been replaced by insanity :-(

Back to the main topic. I am thinking to follow the example set by the gay crowd, their cause was vary unpopular in the beginning, but they won in the long run. And the politicians that backed them did not seem to suffer to bad.

Quite true, however I do not foresee people gunning down nudists, like they did the civil rights movement and the pride movement. Then again anything is possible.
