The biggest fear busted

Return to Discussions

It all started during an informal meeting of our colleagues, a bunch of middle and higher level govt. officers in the office room of my boss in the afternoon less than a month back. One of them, a superintendent of a big hospital, came and sat next to me and asked, "Is it true that you are involved with a secret gang?"
"What does it mean?" I retorted back.
"More of it later", he said.

RE: The biggest fear busted

A few days passed by. It again happened to be me and that guy one to one alone. He asked me straight, "I am sorry if it is wrong and it hurts you; after all, all these may be a mere rumour; but, the thing is, I have heard that you are in nudism, and you have a group; and you people have membership kind of thing also. Are all these true? I thought it is better to ask you and you only directly and straight-forward than going on with the gossips."

Now this is India, the new age India. Not the one where eroticas were curved on the face of the temples, not the one where people of all sexes were topless habitually. No, this is conservative and puritan India.
And I am a respected govt. officer.
So I remained silent.

He continued, "Tell me, I am interested. Curious also. What all these are about?"
Some other persons came in the meantime and he changed the discussion.

RE: The biggest fear busted

A few days later we the same previously mentioned lot including our
boss had a late evening booze party during a thunderstorm. After a few pegs
everyone was enjoying the chat, the mood and the weather and feeling kind of an enhanced camaraderie which we already somewhat possess and which is generally rarely available among colleagues.

That guy, a mischievous chap must he have been, started talking about nudism. In general.
He said that this lifestyle is very interesting. And comfortable and fit for our weather.
Some agreed. Some said it is funny. But nobody was directly against it.
Then that very fellow said, "I heard S******* (my name) has a lot of experience of and about it."
Nobody made any specific comment further but nobody seemed to be in a state of shock.
May be they all came to know already.
How? I even have a Facebook profile with my full frontal nude photos in it.
Already some staff in my team have discovered it, I came to know long back.
And I didn't and don't care to erase them.
And nothing bad had happened.
Now it seems words have spread.

But the discussion on nudism went on.
The strange thing, and obviously the best part of it was that most of them were neutral or mildly positive towards it, and none against. We were around ten in total. The atmosphere was really conductive.
At this point one said, "Why S....... has become quiet and withdrawn suddenly? What is your opinion on this topic?
Now, at this very point, for the first time here I spoke on the subject, told about a few of its benefits and clarified that nudism has nothing to do with sex or sexual pleasure.
All seemed to have agreed.
And some spoke of its spiritual benefits also. And about some spiritual leaders who were in fact in principle and practice nudists. Like Sri RamaKrishna. You know I have mentioned it in my profile also, thus I readily agreed.
And then the topic changed.

The very next day that drum-beating fellow told me he is interested to be a member of our group. I told him this time clearly that first he will have to join our meets in some or other occasion to feel the water and also for us to know whether he fits our bill.
A good thing indeed.
Whether he is going to join us or not? Let us see.

The next few days I was a bit uneasy, particularly in their company. But nobody said anything. Not at all. No ill effect. Nothing. Neither while normal, sober or being drunk. Never. Absolutely.
I am a more confident nudist now.
And, oh, yes, India has really been forward a lot lately.

This is very positive. Surprising too. May be we imagine too much regarding 'expected negative reactions' from others. This imagination is proved wrong in this case. They are either interested or not-interested. But none of your colleagesasyou narrated expressed any distaste or condemned nudism neither blamed you for being an active nudist. May be even few others (other than the one who had shown direct interest) will be a part of this lifestyle in future.

My above observation will be incomplete if I do not mention this factor. All the non-nudist colleagues of yours with whom you were discussing nudismwere a highly educated lot. Rather the cream of the society. So, the reactions shown by non-nudist colleagues towards a nudist colleague may not be exactly similar in other cases.
