RE:Marmite

I have always loved marmite straws made from pastry offcuts but my wife used to dislike them and usually made cheese straws.
However, yesterday we had marmite straws with our aperitifs and my wife said she liked them so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I didn't grow up with it, was hopeful when I tried it
that I would like it but found I didn't--at all. But I would encourage anyone to use it, it's quite nutritious with respect to B vitamins in particular.

The shortage of Marmite as a result of the slowdown in brewing has revealed to many people that it's made from surplus brewer's yeast.
I wonder how teetotallers are reacting to learning this.

RE:Marmite

So, when the pubs reopen we get two treats: Social drinking and Marmite. I knew it was made from Brewer's yeast for many years (I thought it to be a biproduct of Guinness). Brewers of lighter beers are probably also the source for bread yeast. As the yeast grows it ferments, turning sugar into alcohol. And we end up with more yeast.
