Hiking down the wrong trail

Return to Discussions

I was doing nude hiking in Texas on some private property which had great wooded trails and lots of area to cover. I wear hiking boots because of cooperhead snakes, and had my backpack and ballcap. I saw a trail that I did not know, so decided to check it out. After a while I hear a voice somewhere out in the woods "Your on the wrong property". I did not see anyone thru the trees so was very surprised when looked up and saw a deer hunting up in a tree blind. I just yelled back "Thanks", turned around and went back the way I came. Too late to put anything on and I made sure to not look back, because I got a semi from the adrenaline rush. No more going down new trails.

A friend and I were free hiking mid-week (weekends are too crowded) in the Angeles National Forest a few years ago. A couple of rangers approached us walking in the opposite direction. They just smiled and said "Watch out for the poison oak"!

Have a letter on LA Co. Sheriff's Dept. letter head from the then County Sheriff that stated that simply being naked in the national forest was not illegal and deputies were instructed to leave the enforcement to USFS personnel. Not sure what the current sheriff thinks.
