I am a retired minister in the Church of England. I used to say that my denominational allegiance was due to chance (how I was brought up and where I heard the Gospel); then I said it was a choice (liturgical but Bible-centred and vibrant); now I say it is by conviction, for two reasons: 1 it is the national church and 2 it does not set boundaries to theological exploration (if you say you believe the Creeds, you are in and no one enquires whether you mean the same by the Creeds as they do).
