Does your church know that you are a nudist?

Return to Discussions

My denomination is very conservative, but the people and local Pastors in general adhere to traditional Lurtheran beliefs of Grace and tolernance. Taking a biblical position we are to do in Rome as the romans do, that all things are lawful, but not all expedient and so often conflicted to admit being nudists and Christians.
What say you? How do you deal with it?

RE: Does your church know that you are a nudist?

Only a couple of people at our current church know that we enjoy our "naked time". However, there were many people at our last church that knew how we felt about being naked in and around the home. Most of our close Christian friends know that we are nudists. 'Haven't been rejected yet... that I know of.

We joined our current church because of it's rather active youth group for our kids. However, due to some theological difficulties, we have not yet gotten very close to many adult members there. We are praying about the situation, about whether we should move to yet another church, or remain and act as an agent of change or continue to see self-change.

Our pastor knows and I consult with him about our CNC project. He is excited that we can go into a place that most Christians fear to tread! Thank God the holy spirit has no problems going there. Jesus went to hell to recieve his people, so we can go where it takes to make the difference.
But God knows, we also enjoy our naturist lifestyle so it wasn't like we were "coerced" to go to a resort! ;-)

I presume that I would be expected to be of a higher moral standing.
I would probably not use the phrase "higher moral standing", but rather "different moral standing". As most Christian naturists understand, there is no moral deviation in practicing simple, practical nudity and that churches that speak out against it are merely echoing years of their church's tradition, a tradition that does not stand up in the face of Biblical scrutiny.

The only reason we brought it up to our pastor is because he was asking us to help him out with the ministry, worship leading, speaking and such. So we had to lay it out who we are and where we stand. He was excited and said that we were a "sub culture within a subculture". I said that was close enough. He knows we are reaching the naturist community with the gospel and heading up teh Christian Nudist Convocation.

I see no need for the congregation to know that I am a nudist. Too many Christians are prejudiced against nudism -- even in the liberal denominations.
A specific incidence indicates that they wouldn't understand. In a conversation, I mentioned Sandy Hook (in New Jersey). A man asked whether I mean the nude beach, then he said "I hope not." Gunnison Beach is one of several beaches at Sandy Hook. Other than Gunnison, they are all textile beaches.

No, our church does not know that we are naturist. However, we do feel that we should at least let he pastor know but we dont know how to approach him.

How do you share naturism with friends? How will they react? Some people are in church and tell people they are a naturist. I want to be this kind of naturist. To be able to be a Christian nudist and share or tell others about it if I feel they will not be offended.
I told 2 friends at another church, but they got married and moved away so I don't know how may naturism would have affected the friendship. I want to make friends and be open and honest about my natuirism and have it be a positive thing like some of the people here have.

It sounds like you had a good positive experience. I hope that other Christian naturists can find one like yours also.

Nice way to suggest nude baptism. What most Christians do not realize is that baptisms were done in the nude. In some traditions, baptisms were followed up by a clean white cloth around them representing their baptism and leaving behind the old dirty life (their old clothing). So with that kind of education, plus the reality that Jesus did not have a robe when he was resurrected and was mistaken for a gardener.
