Christian Nudists

We gather together for fellowship. To share about our relationship with God To tell of how we work out being a Christian and a nudist in daily living. We see nudism as a positive expression of our God given sexual nature.

A Biblical Analysis

Return to Discussions

This is what I believe:

Adam and Eve were never intended to wear clothing! They were made in the image and likeness of God.
In the garden there was no need for any covering, all their needs were met.
Their nakedness suddenly became evident, then pointed out to them?, "Who told you that you were naked?" Gen 3:11
Disobedience and eating of the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" changed their perspective of their being. Only then was there shame! Shame, is it Good or Evil?
God made them skins to wear, because he was ashamed of his creation or because they would have to leave the garden and its protection?
It was the utopia he created for them, a place where being vulnerable was not an issue as there was no need for physical protection of their skin from the elements and nature, as long as they were there.
Outside the garden, after their disobedience, was a world that protection would be necessary, thorns and thistles, and a need to work by the sweat of their brow. God provided them with the protection they would need in their new world when as they were banished from the garden and its securities.
Not because their bodies suddenly became evil.
If being naked was evil, God could not have created them to live that way from the beginning.

RE:A Biblical Analysis

When you dissect scripture, It's not always about what was said only, but when and in what context.
What is also important is the original text and how the original Greek and Hebrew words were used in other text. This helps you understand what the meaning is and what it is meant to imply.
Genesis 3 describes the "Fall of Man".
Verses 1-6 describe the temptation and the sin, Verse 7, the revelation of being naked.
What had just transpired that made them see themselves physically different from just moments before? I find it interesting they only covered their loins and why only their loins?
First, Eve felt no need to cover her breasts. Secondly, why not other parts of their body. This could raise controversy but for me, more of a curiosity.
Was Satan the one that directed attention to the genitals, rather than the mouth, for eating the fruit, or any other part for that matter. Perhaps this was his first action to exploit the strongest pleasure center of man for evil and corruption to be manipulated and disgraced. Something to be coveted, hence exploited.
When we read about the skins God supplies Adam and Eve for clothing, the original Hebrew word is Labash or Labesh is used when he clothed them. This word is used many times in scripture. Generically referring to clothing, it does in some contexts refer to a covering for warmth and protection but never as a means to "hide" a part of the body.
The garment ("Kethoneth" in the Hebrew) is best translated as "Tunic". Adam and Eve may have covered their loins with a fig leaf, but God didn't. He made them a body covering, not a garment to cover a specific part of the body.
So when did God make their garments?
What he didn't do was immediately throw them a tunic and say "Put some clothes on, your naked"!
He first addressed Satan and cursed him. Next he addressed the disobedience of His creation. Third, He addressed the ramifications of their actions. Then finally He gave them a full body covering before he sent them out into their new, unforgiving environment, providing them with the protection they would need.
When analyzing scripture, a different understanding is derived than the one we draw from society's perspective. Garments are for protection, not to hide something shameful!

I can't disagree with what you wrote. But we do live in a clothed world. Glad there are others who understand being without clothes is not a sin.

As the old saying goes, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." For me I can live just fine in either the clothed world or the nudist world. When clothed I do dress rather conservatively. Am I one of the few guys still alive who enjoys wearing neckties? LOL

I Certainly don't enjoy wearing neckties and rarely need one now that I am retired.
I am sort of the opposite of you.
Never wear underwear.
Essentially avoid long slacks all summer.
Also in summer shirt goes on when I get where I need one and comes off as soon as I am out the door.
