When were you cut and why? And what are your thoughts on it.

I was cut at birth like most guys born in the mid 50s. I didn't know what foreskin was until i traveled to Europe in 1985!! I don't even remember seeing a photo of an uncut penis.
I read threads here and on LPSG where lots of guys cut at birth complain of not having the choice and wanting to restore etc. I'm curious if everyone here can tell a little bit about (1) their age, (2) when were they circumcised and (3) if you were cut later, why? Medical reasons, religious reasons or just because you liked the look. (4) What are your thoughts on it now?
If you had sons, would you have them circumcised at birth or wait until later when you could discuss it with them and let them decide?
There's great site for cut men (and their admirers) cuttingclub.de You might want to check it out if you're interested.

RE:When were you cut and why? And what are your thoughts on it.

I was born in 1949 and was circumcised at birth, as were my subsequent brothers. It was a "cultural" as well as a "medical" thing at the time. For Aussies and NZers circumcision became normal after WW1 due to problems men had had in Egypt and Palestine. However that attitude changed in the 1970's and 1980's. So by the time my sons were born, we were strongly advised against this unnecessary procedure.
Personally, I wish I was intact.
For boys born now and during their developmental years I would ensure that they were well educated on keeping the foreskin area clean by retracting it daily as they bathe or shower. Also in the sex education classes to be aware of the pro's and con's so that they could make an informed and educated choice later in life, if necessary.
