I alway run commando. If you are used to running with support try it without a few times. Not just once. You will probably eventually find it isnt needed and that is regardless of the size of your equipment. Once you become accustomed to it you will probably never go back to wearing additional confining insulation under your shorts. That was my experience and Im much more comfortable wearing only my shorts.
In this heat, I dress as lightly as possible. It is true that things shrink up while running. I just have to make sure to use something like Body Glide or Squirrel's Nut Butter to avoid chafing on longer distances (]6 miles). But I have to do that regardless of how I am dressed for a run.
