Looking to replace our St. Martin trip

Return to Discussions

We WERE going to meet cruise friends at Club Orient. So I am spastically trying to regroup and book an alternate destination. Andy got my attn with his review if HBR. I'm sure I can trust his view of the place.
Did I read somewhere it is always nude ?

The other place I ran across was The Natural in Curacao. Does anyone have any personal experience with this resort?

RE:Looking to replace our St. Martin trip

HBR is technically C/O but like almost every C/O place you visit ... 99.9% of those visiting or staying .... are naked.

HBR is undergoing renovations. The idea was to expand or move HBR to the Sensimar property, which is right next door. Not sure if this renovation encompasses this proposed move. The reno is suppose to be complete next month. If you choose to go there as an alternative to Club O, I will anxiously await your report! :D

We seem to have our close friends seriously thinking about going to HBR with us next year ... hell, it'll only cost them $179 bucks for a week! One of the reasons we joined the vacation club for HBR.

HBR is under renovation right now, but it is scheduled to be completed by Oct 1. The Sensimar property has been absorbed into Seaside Suites, so now instead of 3 resorts there, there are just the 2. HBR guests can use all of the amenities at both resorts, while Seaside Suites guests can purchase a day pass to go to HBR. My wife and I were just at Seaside Suites, and as a Travel Agent, we got a tour and got some of the information. I have already noticed that all of the Sensimar rooms are now available to book under Seaside Suites.

If you have any questions about that property or others, just let me know. I will be happy to answer them for you!

This is confusing ...

So ... Sensimar is now a part of the El Dorado Seaside Suites ... with HBR still in the middle? That's different than what we were told by a number of people both at HBR and at the Vacation Club Offices. hmmmmmmm.....

I looked into booking at HBR in Feb and it looks to be pretty full even 5 months in advance.
And of course premium rates in that time frame. I am unaware at this point of any other properties associated with HBR. I would love to hear more.

Yes, Sensimar is now part of El Dorado Seaside Suites. All of the room categories can now be booked as part of that resort. HBR is still in the middle. One thing to remember whenever you are dealing with Timeshare is the story you are given may not be the whole story.

If you look at the HBR's twitter feed, you can see some of the renovation work going on, They had some pictures posted today.

Also, I'm assuming the $179 is the RCI cost and you have to add to that the all-inclusive fee as well?

RE:Looking to replace our St. Martin trip

Yeah ... we had a timeshare and what we joined was not a timeshare. With a timeshare, you have maintenance costs and set times of the year to visit, that's not what we purchased. But you do have me wondering about what we were told as far as the cost to stay for a week. We were NEVER told anything about any all inclusive fees. We were told repeatedly that when we stayed, it was ONLY $179 for the week, complete. I'll have to call DAE and find out a bit more. Speaking with other guests, during our stay, that had bought into this vacation club, also verified that cost. Their statements and those of the guy that sold us the program all seemed to say the same thing. Did you listen to their pitch?

RCI is part of that package and it's free for the first year of this program but after at the end of that first year, we were told to drop RCI and not renew with them. The timeshare we did own was partnered with RCI and that's why we dumped it. This vacation club package is through DAE and not RCI. They've been quite helpful thus far with calling, asking us if we'd like to book any trips to any of the places in their system. We're currently working on several rooms in Lake Tahoe for an upcoming weeding.

Buying into a timeshare is tricky for sure. We don't like them only because we didn't want to be forced into visiting the same place every year, at the same time. Besides, our timeshare was in a local beach town in January. I know many don't think we have Winter here in So Cal but ... we do and even though it's not as severe as other places ... cold is cold when you're a nudist! hahahaha RCI had other places to visit but we could never get into them.

I saw the pics on Twitter regarding the renovations. We were under the impression that they were expanding the number of rooms and not just renovating grounds. You've now got me concerned.

I understand what you were told, but remember you purchased in Mexico and the Vacation Club/Timeshare industry there is pretty unregulated. Look for a mail on here from us.

We are visiting Nov 1-8 will be interesting to see the Reno. This will be our first trip. We read all the reviews on alcohol being tainted in Mexico. Has anyone had a problem at this resort getting sick after drinking?
