So how do we manage when we have a PA. I've had no objections with my PA or my cock ring at recent naturist gatherings.

Yes, very true.
Its kind of like some of the photos I see in profiles. We are nudists and like textiles there's no reason to accentuate one part of the body or another. Yes, yes, I also see the young women in malls with low cut blouses and short shorts. That doesn't make it right for us. We should be setting a better example. Besides cock rings are to maintain an erection and have no business in a social nudist environment.

Never mind the Typos. I agree with what you say. A puritanical approach to nudism makes it stayed and stale. No wonder we don't attract the younger age groups. Nudism should be fun!!!! Why should one body adornment be any different from another? Incidentally a man who covers his genitals (eg with swimwear) is no different from a textile.

I just spent a week on holiday with a group from British Naturists. I have a PA (genital piercing) and a tattoo where my pubic hair would grow if I let it. They draw attention to my genitals. I'm fully accepted by all these "Genuine Naturists". I even find I'm on the cover of a recruiting leaflet for British Naturists (ok very small amongst over 100 others).

Speaking as one of the younger generation here (though not necessarily for all of us), I do not see any problem with nudists or naturists (or whatever label you prefer) having any type of body adornment. Tattoos, body piercings/jewelry, all are ok with me. I have one tattoo, and I have both of my ears, and scrotum pierced (with a single small ring).

I will admit to being an AANR member, but I will also admit to rarely going to AANR or other nudist events/locations any more. I have gotten tired of the judgement poured onto me when I go to these places and events. I like to go camping when I go on roadtrips, and so I will try to stay at nudist resorts along the way so I can camp nude. I get the cold shoulder from most of the "nudists" at these events and locations because I show up single; my girlfriend is a naturist, and tends to feel even more uncomfortable than I do at many of these places. Then people see the tattoo on my upper arm, and the long hair, pierced ears, and some even see the ring on my scrotum. Suddenly, instead of warm friendly faces and greetings I get cold stares and cold shoulders. It's nearly driven me completely away from "traditional" nudism, just like the cold attitudes and borderline shunning has driven me away from organized religion.

Many young naturists are avoinding the nudism of their parents and grandparents because of the lack of tolerance they find. Instead, they identify as naturists, and find enjoyment in camping nude with their friends, tattoos and piercings and all, and enjoying getting back to nature. Go to the Young Naturists America website and you'll find a wealth of information that is written by the younger naked generation, for the younger naked generation, and you will not find any of the cold intolerance of the older generations there.

If any of the currently existing nudist resorts, camps, beaches, events, etc want to stay in business long-term, they are going to need to draw in a younger crowd. Otherwise, they will end up much like the Veterans of Foreign Wars (of which I am a member) where the older generations refuse to welcome in the younger generation and the organization is dying a slow death. To draw in the younger crowd, these locations and event coordinators are going to have to realize that the younger crowd is a much more accepting and open-minded group, and that things such as tattoos and piercings are not an issue with us. Tolarance will either have to be granted to us and our preferences for personal expression, or we will simply go form our own organizations, create our own clubs and resorts, and organize our own events, and the current nudist way of life will eventually simply cease to exist. It is already happening, but there is still time to change that if the effort is put in.

Well said. I'm one of the older generation nudists, but I hardly ever get out to a formal club. My take is that it's your body, and what you choose to do with it is not my business. I'll do what I like with my own, and that's none of your business. We are all people, and far more than the sum of our body decorations, artwork, or hairstyles. Get to know the person, and decide from that whether you want to be around them.

When I first read this I thought to my self "well said". If there had been a LIKE button I would have clicked it.

We all know the problems that we as nudists have in being understood by textiles, and in eliminating their confusion between nudism and sex. I still hate calling myself a nudist because of my social conditioning which told me that nudists are weirdo's who go placard carrying through city centres demanding equal rights. (Isn't amazing how many social groups want equal rights). I'm just someone who enjoys the comfort and relaxation of being naked, and would like fewer restrictions on where and how I can be.

Then I sat back, thought about it and gave myself a virtual slap.

When I decided to join the nudist social scene, and registered with this site I expected to be met with a host of liberal free spirits. What I found was the total opposite. I found a group of conservative, narrow minded bigots who criticized anything that did not match their very specific view of what true nudism was.

And here I am doing exactly the same thing.

Thankfully, the majority of people on here are not like that. Many are what I was expecting and hoping for, and are open to the fact that people are different. Many like me do it because it's nice, it's comfortable, and it's relaxing. Many do it because it's exciting and daring. Many more are a bit of both.

TherianThot got it absolutely spot on. I was guilty of double standards. I am a member of both "Nude Photography & Graphics" and "Body Paint And Balloon Creations" and admire the excellent art work shown in both groups. At the same time, I don't agree with cock rings.

If that's not double standards I don't know what is
