Almost Skinny Dipping

There seem to be a lot of briefer than speedo swimsuits (string side and/or partial or no back covering) for sale on line, but I almost never see a man wearing one in a public setting.
Has anyone else noticed this and wonder who is buying them and what they do with them after they buy them?

Well, for one I am. I have worn swimwear with string sides or tanga seat or just a thong on different beaches and many times in the yard when "something" was necessary because of possible neighbor eyeballs. In some beach situations, I have noticed people will wear shorts when they are up and about but drop down to a thong or similar for sunning. I also have talked with people that just like to have that sort of thing just for fun. Sure, naked is more comfortable but sometimes I just like to change it up with a hint of an interesting tan line.

I did buy a skinzwear sunseeker for back yard use. It is a narrow front , string side suit with a "half back". Actually the back is only 4" wide at the top and a little less at the bottom, so coverage is really a lot less than half. After wearing it a few times, I decided that it was too small to wear outside the privacy fence around the pool, and if someone happens to see something though the foliage and over the fence, that is their problem, so I stopped wearing it after a few times.

I have reduced my swimwear collection to 3 tan through suits, one each of briefs. trunks and shorts. Very light weight and less confining than regular swimsuits.

I have worn a skimpy tie-side thing on a regular beach but only on a quiet day. Passed one person walking along the sand. Perhaps I should wear it more...

String-side bikinis I am happy to wear most places.

Did you have any problems wearing them in public clothing required places? I would wear string side bikinis in our pool in the daytime before we got the privacy fence. Tried to convince myself that I was just showing regular skin and could wear one on the beach but I never got the nerve to do it.

Time for some pics, if they stay up. My M57, worn at various beaches.

The skimpy tie-side g-string is a Koala suit. Also wore it to the Sunnyside CO area, but did have a shirt over it from the carpark until past the last visible textile beach-goer and upon return as I approached the carpark again as there were people about.

Wore a custom Dore suit today for the walk from the car to the CO section and again on return. 1/4 inch sides but a part of the front & back panels rather than a pure strap, narrow rear of about 4" if I recall the original order, and a very pointy pouch that even I can fill to great effect. Not a shaft suit, but just short of that.

The crowning glory is the fabric. Since it was custom made, I specified the style and the fabric, requesting something close to my skin tone as I thought the nude-at-first-glance look would be eye-catching. She had no such fabric in stock and suggested a shiny orange (it has a slight pink tinge in some lights), which I accepted. I didn't realise until it arrived, but it is covered with tiny shiny orange flakes which totally sparke in the sun and, no doubt, really show off the contours.

Even though I am not shy about smallish suits on public beaches, this was the first time I've worn it in public. Plenty of people to see it today, even if I only wore it for a short time. Possible visible from the moon, but I cannot confirm that.
