Any of your gyms have open showers?
Return to DiscussionsI think most gyms have gotten away from open showers. Mine are stalls, however, I leave my curtain open and keep myself exposed during my shower. I miss the gang type showers where everyone was together in one room. It was like that at the Y when I used to go there, and I loved it.
I use an smaller gym with old school equipment It has a 3 head shower area. They now only allow 1 person in the shower area but I've yet to see anyone using it. I have twice but still not comfortable showering outside my home with this virus.
The gym that I am currently going to has gang showers. There are 4 poles in a rectangle room with 6 shower heads on each...I shower everytime I use the gym and I have only ever been in there with one other guy. The gym is old school and the equipment some new some old. The steamroom is for everyone so you have to be dressed in there.
I work at a gym and it's an older building (built in 1978) with open showers with 12 showerheads. We've talked about renovating that area into stalls for several years but there have always been other projects with a higher priority, so it hasn't happened yet.
My gym had both open and shower stalls prior to the remodel. They 'upgraded' the locker rooms and got rid of both the open showers and the hot tub in the locker room. The shower capacity went from 16 (8 stalls, and 8 spots in the open) down to 12 (all stalls). Now, there's a constant line in the morning for a shower. On the good side, they did expand the sauna and steam so more people can wait for their shower in there :)
