Return to DiscussionsThe typically conservative world of opera has seen many singers performing nude in recent years. Carol Neblett seems to have started the ball rolling when she performed Thais nude in 1973. Since then, many sopranos performing Salome have ended up briefly nude at the end of the Dance of the Seven Veils. In the last few years, many male singers have appeared nude, and Zachary Stains must have set some kind of record when he performed an entire opera naked except for a cape and lion skin.
