What Do I Need?

Return to Discussions

I need to do some serious limbering up to reduce pain and increase flexibility, so I can do some cardiovascular stuff, later. What do I need that I can do at home in the nude? Yoga, simple stretching, Pilates? Suggestions please! I would like a video format, so I can see it on a large screen TV while doing it, but I would consider other formats/media.

If you're doing yoga nude all you need is a mat and a video. I like Rodney yee. Also a towel on top of the mat. Trust you will sweat. Wet mat can be slippery. Lululemon makes a great one for sweat but not for a beginnerThank you.

If you ask any 3 people the same question I can guarantee you'll get 4 different answers. And so, for my 2 cents, I'd like to suggest Maduka for a good yoga mat. From your profile I see you are the same height as I am, 70 inches. Manduka makes a longer mat to 6 feet that I find allows me to keep my hands and feet on the mat when doing "Downward Dog" or anything else for that matter. Also, their mats are thicker than anything else I've ever owned which means my ankle bones don't need additional padding when I do any pose involving a seated cross legged position. As far as a good yoga take/DVD I prefer Elaina Brower. She has a soothing voice and doesn't talk too much. I find other instructors too wordy. If you can find a copy of any of the "Yoga for Athletes" series by Argie Ligeros Tang and Prisca Boris I think you'll be pleased. Their old web site I don't think is still available, but I was able to locate Prisca Boris in the Vail, Colorado area and was able to purchase a DVD over the phone.
Once I get started I tend to ramble a bit, sorry.

You can use a beach towel before by a yoga mat I would suggest gentle yoga to get started if you have a streaming device you can get some stuff on Roku etc from just search yoga. Naked yoga school on Vimeo also has short 15 mins yoga classes you can download or stream.
