Normalising Nudity

A group for people with a common interest in using nudism/naturism to normalise nudity in society, and promoting healthy attitudes to the human body. We will share ideas, events, media, etc. that will help make non-sexual nudity acceptable generally and not only in reserved areas. Society's attitudes towards nudity lead to unreal expectations about appearance, shame, and ignorance of what a...

I posted in the locker room group about this topic but thought it is really relevant here too. Our local pool has opened again after the CV lock down, I'm a regular swimmer so I've returned to the pool. I purposely walk around in the change rooms naked before and after I swim without covering up. I shower with the cubicle door open as do some guys my age but many close the doors. We only have cubicles now after a renovation a few years ago, before that the showers were all open. Many men cover up and hide in the change rooms, I don't get this, it's the mens change room. While I don't stand around naked waiting to have a conversation with anyone who walks in I don't cover up, I don't take a towel to the shower, I'm not bothered. It's a little attempt to re-normalise nudity in the change rooms.

RE:Locker rooms

I joined a gym a few years ago. It was to get our eldest grandson to work out and get some upper body strength for his venture into a firefighter career. It was successful and he still goes to the gym quite regularly but I think it's because he has a girlfriend now. ;DD

I took a shower once in this locker room gym. I stripped at the locker, carried a towel to the shower stall and left the door open and showered. I had one younger guy ask if I wanted to close my door. I responded that it wasn't necessary. I toweled off outside the shower stall and walked naked back to my locker. On the next visit to the gym, there were signs posted that stated "No Nudity" in the locker room. I went out and asked for the manager and told him to cancel my membership right there. I had also called the corporate offices and demanded a refund. After some banter back and forth, I returned to the gym and noticed the signs were all taken down but there were still younger guys showering in shorts. The younger guys these days are really weird. Luckily our grandson isn't one of them!

On the next visit to the gym, there were signs posted that stated "No Nudity" in the locker room. That's beyond the pale. How completely absurd. The whole purpose of locker rooms is so that one can be nude. If no one is getting nude, then the lockers and showers can be out in the lobby.

I concur. I joined a gym thats purple in color, after being told I needed to wear a towel in the locker room of a gym, whos name was made famous by a group singing in the 1970s. I served in the military, enjoying naked locker room, berthing compartment time with fellow males. This stigma thats its bad, especially in todays society, is not right. I enjoy it, and have no hangups at all.
