Differentiating between Nudism/Naturism and Exhibitionism

Return to Discussions

Sorry. All you math people saw, "Differentiating" either got wet or started dripping. I know, I'm one of those math people.

Anyway, what's your personal standard that defines the difference between nudism/naturism and exhibitionism?

Personally, I know I walk a fine line. Many would probably call me an exhibitionist -- though I don't fit my definition of that term.

I really and truly do not care who sees me nude. The only thing (besides conditions that truly require them) that keeps clothing on my body are laws that prohibit nudity. The Bible makes it clear that the onus is on the observer, not the observed.

No, I don't think it's ok to intentionally do things that offend people, however, if I'm simply nude, there is no cause for offense.

For me, exhibitionism would be intentionally going out of my way to be nude in front of people I knew would be offended by it. But that would not include going to the grocery store (for example) even if I knew there were people there who would be offended. I shop at the grocery store just like you. I have legitimate business at the grocery store. If I were going to the store but not really to buy something, rather just going there knowing someone would be offended by seeing me nude, that would be exhibitionism in my mind. Intentionally hanging around someplace where I knew people would be offended -- exhibitionism. Standing on the side of the road just so people would see me -- exhibitionism. Standing in the same spot because I'm waiting for someone to come pick me up -- not exhibitionism. Walking down the same road because I was going somewhere -- not exhibitionism.

How do you define the difference?
