Normalising Nudity

A group for people with a common interest in using nudism/naturism to normalise nudity in society, and promoting healthy attitudes to the human body. We will share ideas, events, media, etc. that will help make non-sexual nudity acceptable generally and not only in reserved areas. Society's attitudes towards nudity lead to unreal expectations about appearance, shame, and ignorance of what a...

Changed CO beach conditions

Return to Discussions

Earlier this week I went to my favourite CO beach, it was quiet, not many people around, I put my towel down where I normally go. No great issues but I checked the new sign at what used to be the official start of the CO beach, the new sign said the CO beach started 800m further along the beach. I stayed where is was, no issues but was a little annoyed as the new CO part was where there is little beach at high tide and where the cliffs have slippages. I went again the next day with a friend, we located around 1/2 may further along the beach, again not many people but I stayed away from the cliffs.

We went again today, Sunday, it was busy, textiles all the way to where the old CO part started but my friend and I went to where we were early in the week. Most people near us were dressed in part, maybe a couple of nudies. I stripped straight away, my friend was a little unsure. Anyway went for a swim, I stayed naked my friend in a bikini. We walked back to our towels. We went back and forth to the ocean, I stayed naked and gradually others did too. My friend went topless and we went for a walk towards where the CO part officially now starts and more people were naked or women topless. We did nothing extra-ordinary, just acted normally and did what we can all do which is stay calm, stay nude and show there is nothing wrong with what we were doing.

RE:Changed CO beach conditions

We found this happening to our once nude beach. It's no longer allowed or tolerated. What happened was that textiles continued to venture further south toward this section for no other reason than to gawk, stare, watch and then complain. Not surprising that between the nude section and beginning of the state beach, there is almost 3 miles of textile beach. Why so many of these people felt compelled to go that far south to enjoy the beach was obvious.

Another issue we had with our section of nude use beach is that the waves eroded quite a bit of the sand and exposed lots and lots of beach stones. It made for going from the blanket/chairs to the water not so easy without flip flops. The beach further north was all sandy, but these people continued to come south and then complain. Know then, what we know now, we nudists would have referred to that section as the "Karen" section! ;DD

I think by going to where we have always been nude on the beach and if others do the same and people behave reasonably, being nude amongst the textiles should be OK. Behaving and showing that there is nothing wrong with nudity is part of it, showing textiles hey this was ours, you can share but nudity is OK, is the basic intention.

Nudist usually are the ones that are willing to compromise and live in harmony, it's those textiles that venture into the nudist areas and then complain, especially when they have so much more space to enjoy than the nudists do. There's so much hypocrisy and contradiction today but that's even in our own nudist/naturist community.

There's a nude beach north of us near where our oldest grandson is attending university. The nudists and a nudist/naturist group fought hard to get that beach back from the complainers and they were successful. It's a much easier beach to access but it's over 2.5 hrs away. We plan on visiting when we visit our grandson.

RE:Changed CO beach conditions

I was back at my favourite beach last weekend, perfect weather here last Sunday around 27c, blue sky, no wind. So while the conditions have changed I went back to where I normally go, stripped off and started reading a book. There were a few of the usual guys I see there plus a nude couple but the woman put on a sarong to take her bikini off, her partner was nude, she seemed to relax when she layed down. There were two pairs of guys together who were unsure but were nude once I stripped off. So I think people are now just a bit unsure in this beach area. I'll continue to do what I do, and not make an issue of it and see how this goes in the future. Our summer here is tapering off so may not be many opportunities left.

I think the real question should be (although its ostensibly rhetorical) Why do people enjoy the beach with clothes at all? It's so much more of a pleasurable experience Nude.
Of course one would have to give it a go to know that. ;o)

the "Karen" section!Yes, I keep an eye out for them, knowing they are the ones who may cause a scene or worse.

Now that is a good question, ie. why does anyone wear clothes at the beach. We go there to swim ad get some sun. Why indeed.
