A group for fellow gardeners from around the world.

Remember the wonderful summer we've just enjoyed? I always enjoy looking back at photos of the summer.

It's not even officially winter yet and I'm already looking forward to next summer. I'm already getting seed catalogs.

Don't know why they wait till the exact low point of the solar cycle to officially start winter when the temperature cycle only lags around 3 weeks from the solar cycle. Mid winter by temperature should hit about middle of January, which should put winter starting about Dec 1st. But gardening is a nice peaceful and enjoyable way to spend time. Like it well enough to set up winter gardens under cover. Eating fresh full time is the main reason to do it though. The seed catalogs were our traditional garden planning material. We even went for the biggest seed catalog of all, the seed savers exchange yearbook. What a massive variety of home seed savers that is! But I have a lot to keep me busy, building a storage building, finishing the house, then I have greenhouse project to work on, and garden fence to build, firewood to cut for both heat and biochar. And keep making biochar when I get a chance.

Got the roof on the storage building yesterday, then went out and hauled in some logs to make siding lumber, and some framing for another woodshed. I will put that up there in the middle of lots of "waste" wood, and just below an access point to the water line, where I can fill it and make biochar in front of it. That will be a good nude work location for winter when it's barely warm enough. And on the sort of level shelf next to it is where I need to fence it for critter excluding from the garden, about an acre there that's fairly smooth. A little further back is a not quite year round little stream from a spring where would be a nice place for a cabin, and close to that a slope I'd love to put into an isolated greenhouse for purely naturist occupation.

I finally got round to trimming the meadow plant patch which should have been done in early autumn yesterday.
Not the best weather for it.

Really looking forward to garden again. It's the most enjoyable thing I can do this side of God's city. And the most necessary for survival, good food is getting hard to find, really good food, there's lots of mid to poor food out there. Every time I look at a seed catalog it's an imaginary experience in fine dining. Eden style dining.
