Naked Gardening Day

Return to Discussions

It'll be May 1 (Saturday) this year.

Do you have plans? Ideas?

We're in the southern hemisphere, so it'll be more about harvesting and finishing than planting and planning. But we're excited that we'll be in a new house with a private yard that's adequate for a nice garden. It'll certainly be conducive to enjoying our cultivations without unwanted eyes.

Well depends on 4 things what C19 is doing such as lockdowns, will I be doing my part time job that day, if not will I be doing my volunteering/hobby and finally temperature.

But any day to me is a naked gardening day if it is warm enough so I don't have to stick to one day only if warm enough.

Sorry I was meaning if lockdown is in place my part time job and volunteering will be stopped and if like last year it was a full world naked gardening day against the odd hour if I am lucky.

Like others it is most often too cold to participate on that day, but I can make up for all summer long ;-)

We're about to move to a place with nice privacy. We're okay here, mostly. But the landlord is on a hill that can look down into our yard, so we have had to be creative. We have the beginnings of a good garden going, but nude gardening is a bit too much with the view.
The new place has no such restrictions. While the yard isn't as big, we'll have enough space and the wall/fence is tall enough that there's no way that even the tallest person could see over.
It'll be interesting to see what Naked Gardening Day brings us. I suspect it'll be like any other day, though starting to get cooler.

If it's cold in May, do you really have a summer? It sounds like you live in one of those climates I call, "nine months of winter, three months of relief."

Yes May can be a lovely warm month like in 2020 but so was April and from middle of March and other years it can be very cold as well.

LOL. Well according to most planting guides May 7 is our average last frost date. I am 50 miles west of Minneapolis, MN. Summers have their share of 80's, 90's, and some low 100's, but in "The land of 10,000 lakes" and 1.5 million swamps the humidity at times can be horrendous. Definitely need a furnace more than AC here ;-)
