First naked gardening of the year

Return to Discussions

Today it was 60 degrees with a bright sun and I got to spend the day naked in the garden. There is still snow in the woods here, and I'm sure I could walk across the ice on the pond but the garden area has finally thawed. I did some preparation of the raised beds and cleaned up the yard after a long winter. Looking forward to a long and fruitful growing season!

It is great when you get the chance to get out nude. Our weather is almost good enough to get out nude daily. Hubby is home every day so he managed nude time in the garden to plant potatoes at the end of Feb, get corn in the ground in March and has gotten the spots ready to start planting our other garden crops Mid April/ Hoping everyone'd gardens are great this year.

Yeppers, spring is a-sprung here in Virginia!

I am fighting for space under lights in the barn for all the peat pots full of things not ready for the outdoors - my own fault. It's so tough to toss away all those sweet peppers and tomato plants when every single seed pops up! So today begins some preemptive hardening off for some of those. Still have some herbs for the railing boxes to plant in with their older brothers that wintered over quite healthy, and maybe even going to plop the marigolds in the double-dug bed corners if the ambition hits me. They are already trying to grow their first flower buds! Some radish and beets and spinach might make it to the dirt today as well, if I get ambitious, but when it's in the eighties I get unrealistic about what I can get done. We've got three days before the fifties return so better get nakedly crackin'!

Good luck all your dirty-kneed bare folks!! Keep up the good work, and let's get some pictures on display of your melons in the garden!

Its still a little bit cold here for any naked garden work but I'm hoping it'll warm up very soon so I can get back out again.

The pic is from last summer :)

Its warming up nicely down here, actually possibly a little too nicely. We have already had 80F this past week and it bodes for a long hot summer. Well press on and take breaks in the AC! And our small garden is started but we still have more things to plant. We will get there.

Did a little nude yard work on Tuesday.
Couldn't do more because:
Most of the work that needed to be done was in the front yard and we live on a busy through street across from a high school.
Our grandson is spending the week with us, so I only had time while he was out with my wife.

I did a bit during Feb but this was the real first day mainly doing repairs/tiding up to the fruit cage and, the next two days look good for naked gardening.

Haven't had a chance to do any nude gardening yet. I have some cover crop I have to till under first. I have some clover and turnups growing and they are knee high. So have to get the mower out to cut them down before I plow them under. Should be warm enough to garden nude when I start planting, even though anytime is a good time to go nude.

My first naked gardening session of the year was a couple of hours of snipping the smaller branches and twigs from the branches I had chainsawed from a silver birch and a conifer tree (clothed) in February. I did this before lunch intending to finish the job of shredding them naked in the afternoon sunshine. Unfortunately, a combination of shade and increased wind forced me into my tracksuit (sans underwear of course) to finish the job in the afternoon.

I was the same Sunday as I got some naked gardening in the morning and after coming home from the lunch the cloud had come up and a light wind so too cold to garden naked.
