Headed to Big Bear with the wife for the weekend. Looking to do a bunch of hiking and hot tubing. I am assuming this would have some good naturist area to go nude. But having trouble finding anything here. Any hiking suggestions to go nude or just remote enough to enjoy nature? Thanks in advance.

You can take the Bradford Ridge trail down to Deep Creek Hot springs. Nude hiking is acceptable there.

Thanks. We will do that one. Would be nice to hike without looking at every turn. We did find Sugarloaf mountain that only had one other hiker on it. We figured it was far enough out. But it was a strenuous hike.

Ok. So we took that trail you mentioned. We found it on the All Trails app. (Great app for hiking BTW). It was a great hike until we hit that crazy downhill. I thought for sure we would have an issue coming out. But surprisingly we had no issue hiking out. Definitely need good hiking shoes. Lots of textiles at the hot springs and a few nudists. I thought it was great seeing people comfortable with themselves like that. The wife wasn't feeling it so I had to keep my pants on in solidarity. We are new to this so we are tip toeing in. But she / we do want to come back. What a great oasis in the desert. Next time we will spend the day there. Thanks for the advise.

To avoid that crazy downhill there is a fork at the top of the ridge- the "real" trail is on the left and follows the top of Brandford ridge.

Next time you come to Big Bear, try driving up Polique canyon just east of Fawnskin on the north shore road. It is dirt and gravel most of the way but you will find 2 paved sections. At the end of the second paved section (and the top of the hill) the road is crossed by the Pacific Coast Trail. Heading west from that point offers great views of the lake and very little change in elevation. Heading east gives great views of the Holcom valley and also very little change in elevation. In summer you may find other hikers who are doing the whole trail but most of them won't mind if you are far more casual in your attire. Email me if you would like a "native" guide.
