We stay off interstates as much as possible and follow the weather: deserts and the South in the cooler months, mountains and the North in summer, coasts and fall color in the shoulder seasons.
The trip
~1 year, lower 48 only
Mostly US highways, state roads, and scenic byways (Pacific Coast Highway, Blue Ridge Parkway, Natchez Trace, Scenic Byway 12, Beartooth, Going-to-the-Sun, San Juan Skyway, Great River Road, etc.)
Seasonal routing so were not in Phoenix-level heat in July or northern passes in January
Mix of national parks, small towns, coast, desert, and mountains
Flexible pace not a race; lots of time to film, hike, and linger
Who Im looking for
Woman, reliable, easygoing, and comfortable with long days on two-lane roads
Valid license and some highway/mountain driving experience
Okay sharing a vehicle, campsites, and occasional cheap motels
Interested in the road itself, not just destinations
Video blogger / YouTuber / TikTok / Instagram creator is a plus this route is built for scenery and stories
