RCL Oasis of the Seas 10/29 - 11/4

Return to Discussions

First time on this mega ship. Anyone used its sauna/steam room? From what I've read online, they aren't worth the price of admission.

I'll be on one of the sister ships of this class in May and most of the facilities will be about the same. I too will be interested in any first-person report. From what I've read and experienced on the many Princess and Royal Caribbean ships, some of the relaxation, massage, sauna facilities are nice but are they worth the money? Kind of depends on what you're willing to spend but they won't be anywhere within reach of reasonably cheap (or not-to-expensive). Secondly, and sadly, none of the facilities are receptive to nude relaxation even on the almost private balcony you might be getting. All that aside, I hope we can get some good comments from someone who has been in the sauna areas and can give us newbies to the "big" ships some ideas on what to do/expect.

Yes, you are very correct - you can do some discrete nude balcony time on most of the ships - just have to sometimes look to see if the Captain's bridge can see you (I've had that happen) or that the neighbors aren't the type that like to come out and peer around the "walls" to see if anyone is there. When they do that it's kinda creepy unless they would offer to share the balcony all in the nudist mode.
Sure hope we get info about the Spa/Sauna situation on the Oasis though.

The steam and sauna on the oasis class ships are $99 plus 18% gratuity. They are coed and require a bathing suit. They are nice and have thermo beds in the area also. It depends how much you use or enjoy a steam and sauna whether it is worth the cost.

They are as pgbplay described on the Oasis' sister ship.
Unlike most ships I've been on, the thermosuite is located in the
bowels of the ship and not on the outside. It consisted of 2
steam rooms, 1 sauna, 2 rain type showers and 4 heated lounge
chairs. The changing/locker room, with
toilet/showers/lockers, is located across a corridor that leads to
treatment suites. Access to the area is restricted by a key
card that is given to you when you check in. They will give
you a robe when you check in but I abandon it after I discovered it
had no pockets. You have to carry the key card and a locker
key around with you. One steam room was supposed to be
aromatherapy but it smelled the same as the other steam room to
me. The second steam room seemed to be hotter than the
first. The sauna was not overly hot but the benches were
blistering hot. Most have to sit on a couple of folded
towels. Since there were only 4 heated beds, they were always
full. A big complaint was there were no non-heated lounges
(or room for any) if you wanted to relax or recuperate. Because it is co-ed, you have to wear a bathing suit. At first, I wore my tan through trunks but after a couple of days, I switched to my speedo style one.

The price quoted to me and on the display sign for the week was
$119 plus 18% gratuity. I did not purchase the package during
the tour but returned later in the day and was only charged $99
plus the 18%. If I were to go on this class of ship again, I
was not purchase this package.
