Is it just me or, and even though things have been changing quite a bit lately, theres still a huge gap as far as interracial sex scenes are concerned ? One of our cable tv channels here in Portugal keep airing Sex and The City and a couple of days ago they aired the episode in which Samantha, played by Kim Catrall, has an affair with a black man, that doesnt end up very well. Despite the fact that things didnt work out between the two of them, that being hardly the point here, what sort of struck me about Sex and The City and I was also criticized once, is the fact that for a show that takes in an extremely cosmopolitan city like New York, the lead characters had very few intimate encounters with people who werent white, some would even wasps - white, anglo saxon prostestants - I remember that Miranda also had an affair with a black man once, but then again, it was short lived. And tv, I think, is actually more open minded than movies, since shows like Scandal show a white man who happens to be the president of the United States madly in love with an african american woman, the brilliant Kerry Washington. But dont you think that its about time movies start showcasing whats happening in our society, or is it just me ???
